New Installations!

So yesterday I received my CA Stage 3 w/60# injectors, CA Header, and XTC 2.5' catless downpipe. Today My friend and I installed the header and downpipe. After a very quick test drive I haven't really noticed much except a deeper idle and tone. I also have what seems to be alot of heat shield raddle. Anyone else experience this after these mods? I've yet to open her up and plus it's raining so I don't know how it helped my top end. Anyway just wanted to post! Thanks!

thats because the exhaust ports on your motor are the restriction and not the exhaust itself. but you will notice a difference when you put the tune on.

I hope so, I deff. noticed a difference in top end on the interstate. You can feel the torque. Also, has anyone had a problem with the CEL light. And will my CA stage 3 tune remove that? Thanks guys!

your check engine light came on because you no longer have a catalyc converter for emissions. you probably have atleast 3 codes for that. the computer sees that theres nothing being done with the exhaust gas that is exitting the engine through the header and down through the downpipe...thats what the cat does. it reduces emissions and changes the gasses leaving the engine into less harmfull gasses exitting the tailpipe

Well I know why it's on but I was wondering if the tune will remove it or do I just have to deal with it? Or is there any little tricks to remove it like th MIL Eliminators on Mustangs? Anyway, thanks guys!

I just put a down pipe on my car and I have some light mods done to the car and I noticed gains through all gears. I can just tell that the car has some more pull to it. I also need a tune done. but you are going to start throwing a code in the its going to be P0420 for your cat but if you have a intercepter gauge you can just delete the code.

you would have to double check with CA on weather they wrote into the tune to shut off the second o2 sensor. i would assume they did, but they may not have.

Well, I shipped the ECU today. I should have it back by friday hopefully. They said they'd take care of the CEL and account for my other mods so I'm really excited to get it back and see how she feels with the stage 3!

What size pulley comes with the CA Stage 3 kit? Look forward to seeing how you like your new setup.

Well, my Spec stage 3 is great! Very good pedal feel and it holds a hell of a lot better then stock. But if I had it to do over I would deff. get the spec stagee 2+ or 3+. Just for the added assurance. But I've had no problems from the clutch. It engages so quickly probalby at 1/4 of the clutch pedal it engages. I love it. As for the Stage 3 it came with a 2.7". And I'm having the hardest time getting the stock pulley off. Anyway my PCM is supposed to be here today and as long as I can get the pulley off I'll have her running tonight!!

My car is the test mule for Vibrant's header and race cat. My car is stock other than a K&N drop in filter and raised redline to 7400. We dyno'd to 7000rpm.

With stock 2.5" catback still on, the header gave 4whp and 7 lb.ft over the stock manifold in 4th gear. I do notice a difference in mid-range torque which was also where it showed good improvement on the dyno chart.

With more boost the gains would be larger. Stock these cars don't really need a header. I have no rattles at all.

Guys,I installed the stuff and instantly got a CEL. Well I didn't know what it was and ran the car anyway! HARD! Well now I find out it's the Crankshaft Relearn Code and I SHOULD NOT HAVE BOOSTED my car! I'm in the process of finding someone to fix code. I really hope I didn't jump timing or anything. Anyway cars felt great I'll update everyone after I get her fixed!

considering what you said, then I would say that a 2.5" pullied cobalt would yield about 15 to 20whp with full exhaust.

so we finally got scoot05redss's car together and got the case lean done. now we are getting mad missfires and its idles like crap. you can hold the throttle at 2k rpms and hear the miss. it never did this before the kit. it did this with new bkre7 iridiums that came with then i put in some bkre7's gapped @.037 i had lying around and still did it. it has new injectors and hareness so what would make it miss like this. should i buy some new plugs and gap them differently? btw, on the iridiums it would hesitate real bad above 6200rpms but with the bkr7e's it doesnt

HOLY COW!!! You got a code right away, and you ran your car hard anyway!!! Jesus Christ man! You better pray to god you didn't screw anything up! I Pray you didn't screw anything up! That would totally suck.

Hopefully he didn't screw something up when he ran it without the Crank Learn. If so... that might be the reason for your misfires.

Well I dont' think I screwed anything up. I had the Crankshaft learn done and she's running strong now. The only thing is what Squeak mentioned, the misfires! They are killing me. I've been having a "Randon/Multiple Cylinder Misfire" code since I installed the clutch, flywheel, and new spark plugs! Now I'm getting it again. Any ideas on what I can do? Thanks guys.
BTW From a 40 roll I ate a stock Evo to about 115 finally above 120 he pulled even!!!

Well I regapped the plugs, check the coil connections, and cleaned the MAF Sensor and I still have the rough idle, missing under a small load, and the CEL for Random Cylinder Misfires!! What the hell else to try???
