Yep better than stock for sure.
They have been pushed over 400 Hp with out issues so far.
And the plus about it is they allow u to get the proper piston to wall clearance.

I really like the idea of boring to fit the piston.

Im sleeving a gen 3 2.0 buick turbo block with 090 wall hi performance custom made sleeves . At the shop now. The gen 3 2.0 comes with no sleeves and the cylinder walls are extra thick. They cant be bored because of the special treatment of the aluminum is only a couple thousanths thick. This block should be invincible. Heh Heh

When replacing the sleeves, do we have to replace the o-rings?

do you mean piston rings? I bought new and re-sized them, they are only 100 bucks for the set. I have 180 compression across all cylinders and over 200 psi wet on a cold motor. Buy new rings and fit them for the new piston to wall clearance.

no actual cylinder head rings. I was messing around on CED's website and stumbled across this:

Ecotec Head Gasket and 0-Ring Kit 88958614

I've never heard nor seen these "o-rings" on our motors. I already have a cosmetic head gasket so I wasn't going to use it, I was just curious

So basically that "o ring" kit is a "specialty" type of headgasket kit. Good to know.

yes you'd use it in a high boost or nitrous application. the downfall is they don't really seal the coolant as good as oem so it'll seep a bit. but for a drag only application it would be fine. most drag engines that are using an o ring block aren't running coolant anyways.

Im not a big fan of the stock gasket. Ive been into a few ecotec engine and always used a cometic never had a issue.
Spent alot of time talkin with bates and a few other ppl about it.
They all say cometic is the way to go. But everyone has there preference.

I think if you're not having the head and block surfaced, the stock may be a better option. I like the cometics though.

Ive had both. Chose the GM MLS over the cometic. The GM was just better quality. I had both my head and block milled, still chose GM MLS all day long. But to each their own.

I am curious of doing this. I am guessing I would have to get custom sleeves like you did for your gen 3 2.0 block. There are a ton of these motors out there, and I am sure I could eventually scoop up a core from my work (I work at a buick, gmc, caddy dealer). I would want to keep the 2.0 bore size though.

If you don't mind, how much did your custom sleeves run installed?

Sorry for the derail mrB. I talked to you about these sleeves a long time ago on gmsc and found this thread.
