New Supercharger?

Hey guys, i posted a comment in the supercharger section, but i want to start a new thread about this. My stock supercharger on my 06 cobalt is on the fritz and needs to be replaced/rebuilt. I want to replace it with a bigger supercharger. Question is, what size should i go with? stick with the M62 or go with the M90? Should I stay Eaton or go with another brand? I plan on rebuilding the stock one, porting and polishing as well, I just need to get a new one in there now so i can drive my car again...been without it for 3 weeks already. Any help would be great.

forgot to put my mods that i just got done right before the SC went out. put on a 2.7 pulley and 60# injectors, 2 ranges colder spark plugs. like sukxost said, i was about to get it tuned when i found out my SC was poopin on me

I dont think anyone successfully did an M90 swap. If you want bigger and more efficient go with the TVS.

Harrop TVS, but once you get it your going to want to use you M62 as a paper weight. You must be really new...

m90 wont fit in our cars...its to big and hits the frame. Get the tvs supercharger, but you will need quite a few supporting mods

^^^^Keep in mind guys he just had 60's and a 2.7" pulley thrown on.........was about to be tuned and his bearings are shot in his SC. SO.....he has some potential but he needs some specific info and intel on how and where he needs to go or start. I'm interested to see how you all can help him as I'm just stage2 in my SC'd cobalt and don't have the know-how to help him with this. He's also still stock internals and does not yet have a meth kit whick he has been talking about.
Help us out guys!

he needs the tvs which is .3 litres larger with a new blade design which allows up to 76% efficiency which means alot less heat. he will not need a meth kit for this. he will need the TVS supercharger an ls4 throttle body and dont go any lower then a 3.15 which is roughly 20 psi. you will need to port your heads in order to go lower pulley sizes. Also dont forget to tune it when you drop on the TVS. which is just a bolt on supercharger. not much work required.

You can either rebuild the m62, or get a TVS. There's nothing else.

You only "need" an ls4 throttle body if you want your car to be touchy as hell. It isn't a must at all.

hmm even on OTTPs website they say to use the ls4 throttlebody with the TVS. if you tune for it properly i dont think there will be any problems

good info guys! I hope youre paying attention Jay! Sounds like a TVS blower is your best bet considering $; ease; and performance

Harrop recommends the LS4 TB because higher flowing = better on the test bench, but they never actually tested the setup on a cobalt. LS4 TB is definitely not necessary. Some may even consider it totally undesirable.

Anyway, Jay, you could likely find another M62 for cheap in the classifieds if the TVS is too much $$$ for now. Some have gone as low as $300.

if u got the money get a tvs if not buy another m62 from a member here for around 300 or less they go for. ls4 tb people reccomend but its not necessary for a tvs. actually most people have used it and dont like it and its been a bit of a pain to tune it as far as i have read from lots of members.

Jay's a cheap mo fo so he'll likely puss out and just get a used M62. (my attempt to challenge/guilt him into putting a TVS on so I can stomp him in my TC!)

with a tvs and 20 psi he will reach roughly 330-350 whp. you probably wont stomp him in your TC. unless its heavily modded

If you are going to get a used M62, I would suggest this one..

https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/show...&highlight=M62

It is the lowest price one I have seen.

if he is tuned right yes. but he will need atleast a dual pass and meth and an extra cooling tank i would say. full exhaust. intake, 60s, stage 2 belt im pretty surehe was some of those already im just saying

i dont believe methanol is needed seeing as the tvs creates way less heat. dual pass maybe. larger front mount h/e yes. of course exhaust is necessary and so are injectors.
