Cool The Official 40 Series Thread

Ok I've got a few PMs about the Flowmaster 40 Series on the Cobalt. It seems like people are liking the 40 series, so I'm just wondering how many people have put a Flowmaster on their Cobalts? I also wanted to make a thread so people can ask question about it. Well I obviously have a 40 series on my car, so who else has a Flowmaster? We 40 series guys gotta stick together!

How is this a gay pride fest? I just made a tread so people could ask question about it cause I get a pm about it like every other day. Plus I'm curious as to who else has one.

I plan on installing a 2.5" Super 40 with 2.5" pipe on my 2.2L when I can get the time and money at the same time. I want to try the Super 40 b/c it has a larger case 5 by 10 as opposed to the 4 by 10 of the Original 40; it outflows the original and I am hoping for a deeper exhaust note from as well. I'm not really a fan of the Delta flow on the Flowmasters, but I wouldn't mind it on my car right now with the Super 40 (all Super 40's are Delta Flow mufflers), b/c I kind of want to keep it on the sleeper side.

I know the results of power and sound on my car can't even begin to be compared to that on a 2.0SS but just thought that some people will be interested.

Id like to hear that, the super 40 is quieter and more mellow than the 40 series. I just wanted a raw untame loud as **** exhaust sound and the 40 series delivered!

I put one on my 2.2L cavalier. I removed it the next week and put a magnaflow.

On my cavy it sounded like crap. It poped alot and it was vary raspy and way to loud to drive every day and not get a ticket.
And yes I had a 18" resonator on there with the muffler.

I went magnaflow agen with the Cobalt and love it.

baffled mufflers dont generally offer the performance of a straight through and also sound kinda crappy on a 4 cyl

i had one on my civic before, not a flowmaster, but a baffled muffler, and it sounded extremely raspy and generally angry lol

They don't have an exhaust system for our cars, so if you want a flowmaster you gotta get custom bent and welded tubing, most muffler shops will do it for around 200 bucks. I really want to get an outlaw series muffler (so they call it) for my car. It will still have the deep tone, except it will be 10 times louder! Its does less than a resonator, it is basically an open chamber with a few little sound rings, it lowers the exhaust level just a couple decibles below open exhaust! It a muffler for racing classes that requier a muffler of some sort.

TOTALLY agree . I had a chambered muffler on mine(edelbrock SDT) , it was horrible . The Borla sounds better in every concievable way possible

Kate and I are getting Cat-back systems custom made for our cobalt ss/sc's tomorrow at Pro Muffler in Peoria, AZ. I think I'm gonna go with Magnaflow.
