Are you running a TVS on E85 with 80s?

InfraRedline 04-03-2012 12:45 AM

Wish I had a dynojet near me :( *sighs*

I believe mrbelvedere is hinting at cams

im on a tvs but not e its not here yet i wish it was but i dont need to be on e to know how to setup the fuel system but 80s on e will never be able to supply enough fuel

i read your dyno thread on rl forums good stuff just dont get caught up in the numbers you have a dam good running redline

on a side note people can keep beating the drop pully horse till its dead and a ported head till its dead to you wont be able to use a ported head to its full potential on stock cams the stock cams are dam good for a set of stock cams
how would you like to be able to make 340 or so hp on a tvs with 2.9 or 3.0 pully on gas and meth its very possable to do that with a set of cams and a dam good tuner the idea is to not to have to spin the piss out of the blower to make the power you want do what it takes to make it easier to make the power not harder slamming a smaller pully and throwing it on isent the complete answer

on a 2.9 pully at 7300 i move 47.9lbs a min my budd on e and a 2.8 at 7500 is moving 45lbs a min

My friend from Fargo is sending his Top Speed built STi with a pte5857 down their pretty soon! So we gonna get together and get that thing dialed in? Saw you were talking to James as well so wasn't sure which route you were going to take.

I didn't take it as you meant anything bad. I totally understand. I will definitely see if I can get it there

On the stock fuel system I assume? Been running 80s on E for well over a year (w/BRFS) with no issues.

So have other people. I am not sure where he is coming up with his opinion.

Yeah, me either. I know we definitely were not the first and most certainly not the last to run it and be fine.

you can run 80s on e but your not going to get very far even with just a pump a change or a brfs or a rstfs 340 to 350 hp is roughly as far as you can push them the 80s just cant spray enough fuel at 58lbs the needle valve and spray orfice is just to small to do the job now if you want to still use 80s and run a rsfs with a 1 to 1 regulator your going to have to run a base pressure of 55 to 60lbs and a wide open presssure of 80lbs or more to force the injector be able to spray enough fuel and idc wise your looking at 95 to 100% and that could possably get you into the 370hp range

Gotcha. We are closer the same page then I thought.

On my current TVS, 2.9", E85 RSFS with the base pressure set at 43.5psi I have not 100% IDC at 7k with a commanded AFR of 11.8. Max IDC is 95% around 7000rpms. The tune is not 100% but I feel comfortable saying that I should not have to raise the base pressure to provide enough fueling for this 2.9" pulley @ ~7200rpms. I am seeing max boost of 20psi so my FP should be ~63.6psi

This pulley will put me in the 330whp range.

For the 2.7" pulley I plan on settings the base pressure to 50psi which means at max boost I should be running ~72psi of FP. I think that should be enough to provide the fueling I need. I have read that the stock pump gives up between 70-80psi. I have read the 80s give up at 80psi of FP.

if you drop to a 2.8 you will hit 100% idc around 6000 to 6500 lsj ion is running a 12.4 or so afr to keep things happy the stock pump just realy cant supply the volume needed to to feed the beast and 70lbs is as high as i would push it it starts to loose its umph after that i dont know where the 80s give up but i do know you cant retip them and make them bigger its time for a new pump and inj eric

I appreciate the advise but this might be one of those situation where I am going to have to try it for myself.

I don't have any plans on running anything lower then a 2.7" pulley this year. And I agree with you that a 2.6" is silly on the stock head.

I am also not sold on cams yet. I have not seen any concert evidence that tells me that I have to be running them with my setup. And Cam + TVS means there is another $3000 investment to do it right:

Cams
Ported Head
Springs - A good idea anyway
NBS or BSD
ATI Balancer

3k for 30whp is not in my budget.

I know I said 361 but realistically it is 350 or bust.

mrbelvedere 04-03-2012 04:48 PM

i wouldent say 3000 to do cams and i wouldent go past a 2.8

running higher than 11.5 afr on e is leaving power on the table.

just a lil fyi.

:)
