Oil

Do you guys only use mobil one synthetic or? I was thinkin bout using the quaker state synthetic but im not to sure. thanks guys...

darksol4life 07-01-2007 09:41 AM

I use mobil 1 only, but then again I work for GM so I get it cheap.

blackngold20 07-01-2007 09:45 AM

mobil 1...lol just because the manual says so. If you have an internal problem and need to take it in for warranty work hopefully they wouldn't blame it on the oil but you never know

Coblasts 07-01-2007 10:06 AM

Theres a oil spec in the manual, its like 1394 or something like that for the minumum spec.
If its listed on the Quaker state I dont see a problem using it.
I will use the Can tire formula 1 synthetic ($19.00 for 4.4 liters )if mobil 1 not on sale, I am pretty sure its made by esso and meet all the specs listed in the manual.

i always use mobil one. i'm about to change my oil in a few! oil must have been on sale this week, oil AND filter for like 25 dollars!

Mnatvyc1223 07-01-2007 10:32 AM

royal purple 5W30 cant get much better than this, huge difference between mobil 1 and this stuff, RP makes a difference i swear!

Red07SS 07-01-2007 10:38 AM

I think Quaker State is re-used oil. I mean hell all oil is used but quaker is older. If that makes sence.

Who cares what the manual says.

RP - Group 4 Synthetic
Mobil 1 - Group 3

Group 4 > Group 3

you should care if you value your warranty...but I guess if you're ballin' like that maybe you don't

Using a better oil will not void your warranty. It is a minimum spec. :spam:

JRelly 07-01-2007 01:52 PM

I use Mobil 1...because all my maintainence is done at he dealer so I can keep my free tires and batteries for life

It may not...however, my point was he said who cares what the manual says. My reply is if you don't care about the warranty than it doesn't matter what the manual says. But if you do just do what it says...simple

Your stealership does free tires for life as long as you get yer oil changes done there? Pretty sweet. :twothumbs

yea I have to get my oil changed and tires rotated every 6000 miles and I get free tires and batteries for life. But if I go over even by a mile they wont do it. They discontinued that offer so they are trying to get rid of everyone who has it, but as long as I keep my maintenence on time they cant void it.

You know that royal purple looks just like mobil 1 when it's drained correct?

Exactly so how will they know if you're using M1 or RP?

Mnatvyc1223 07-01-2007 07:04 PM

i know that every oil has it's own characteristics and what not, but i doubt they are gonna sit there and test it... or will they?!?! nah...

They won't. GM doesn't care if you use RP. They'll void your warranty for a CAI more then a specific oil.

RP is better then M1 so they don't care.

X2 it even acts as if it revs more freely. Royal Purple is the only way to go.

CJ BadBlackSS 07-02-2007 05:04 PM

Just switched over to RP last week. Car feels nice through the revs now, and I certainly had it revving last weekend!
