Question Oil Temp Bung

Hey Everyone,
I want to install a bung for a temp sensor in my oil pan.
Question is,
Should I have it welded, (It's an aluminum bung) into the oil pan,
or would JB Weld be sufficient?

Drilling a hole and JB Welding it, would be ALOT eayser
however would it hold sufficently? A large enough or
sudden leak and there goes the oil.

A Weld while being the more difficult way,
runs the risk of warping the oil pan? Aluminum welding
sometimes doesnt work from what I understand depending
on the alloy number. There is heat treatment to worry
about as well.

I had avehical years ago that had a crack jb welded
on the side of the engine that covered the timing chain,
and it held very well.

Opinions please.

If you want, I have a spare LSJ oil pan, I can put a fitting in it for you and ship it to you, so you can just swap them out and sell off your old one. I've done a couple turbo drain fittings for local cars like that. Always, always weld it. JB weld is NOT a good way to put things together. Drill/tap if it's small, or weld it, but please don't try to epoxy a fitting into the oil system...

How about Super glue. I would tap or weld it. The only way to go.

Thanks for your offer, but I already purchased a spare LSJ oil pan from GMParts Direct. I wanted to have a spare in case I screw up.
