Alright, today I get called from these ******** that I ordered m car about 2 weeks ago, and they said that they dont make blue anymore, I was like ok then Ill get laser blue (The New Blue) and they are like wtf are you talking about I was like its the color they are making now.. Man salesmen are dumb.. Now they are making me choose between the other colors.. what to do?

 

Blue seems kinda generic for SS. They seem common to me. I would go with Sunburst Orange, havent seen to many of those around.

 

Get the exact color you want man. If that color is blue get blue. Take your business else where if you can. You should be able to get the new 2006 blue. They have no right to deny you that.

 

Totally agree. Don't just settle for another color just so you can have a Cobalt. Get what you want the way you want it. Those salesman are complete idoits and you should let them know that. It's funny how you know more on what's availabe then they do.

 

As someone thats been in sales for 10+ years now, its impossible to know everything there is to know about a given product/series of products. But a helpful attitude will go a long way to making a customer understand that.

Tell them thats what you want to order, if they (for some bizarre reason) give you no reason for not being able to do so (perhaps Arrival is discontinued for ordering and I'm sure the new paint shop isn't online yet) go elsewhere.

Simple, no?

 

I saw the laser blue on a 06 Sedan (Didn't see if it was SS) today at Wendays, was actually pretty nice!

 

How about you tell them you want blue, and if they argue, tell them you want your money back.

 

They told me they have no blue what so ever. I think my salesman is bullshit. I dont know what to do since ive been thinking about my blue cobalt SS S/C for like a year now..

 

The dealer I got my SS from tried making me take a Yellow SS/SC w/o the yellow inserts (woulda said Hell YA if it was the G85 pkg.). Siad that this is the one that they located, take it or leave it. I left it, went down the street, had them locate the one I wanted, and then stopped by the first dealership to pick up my deposit as I testdrove the one I originally wanted. DO NOT settle for what they want you to take.

 

Order it at another dealer.

Demand a refund and go to another dealership! Why do you people let salesmen bullshit you around? You are there to buy what YOU want, especailly if you're spending 20k, YOU should get it, not what some idiot has out back. Trust me, they can order cars from anywhere in the US, my SS came from over 800 miles away because there wasn't one that had what I wanted.....

My advice is to call a dealership in another state and have them order you one.

DO NOT LET THEM PRESSURE YOU INTO SOMETHING YOU ARE NOT COMFORTABLE WITH

 

Since the arrival blue is supposed to be offered up until the end of the year at which point the laser takes over, it sounds like someone at your dealership forgot to place the order and GM is now rejecting it since they're trying to phase it out. I would call GM and ask them what's up and explain the circumstances...this salesman doesn't sound like he knows what's going on...I'd see if GM will handle it directly. Don't go with something you won't be happy with...if the arrival is officially done then push for laser if you want it until you get it. When I bought my car I asked for red, yellow or silver. I ended up with the silver and wouldn't have settled for any colours other than those three without some sort of incentive, even on the silver being my third choice they tinted my windows free of charge.

Did he already pay for the car? I mean you can actually make a deal until the car is built and the invoice is at the dealer.

As for the Blue I would just say, hey why don't you look at the 2006 Cobalt brochure your handing out in your show room.

 

When you order a car that is not on the lot you have to pay a holding or order fee that gets applied to the car once you actually take the order. Usually it is like $500 down for an order.

 

I didn't pay anything when I ordered my car, until I took delivery..

I work as the Internet sales manager at the largest Chevrolet dealership in Maine. Treat the customer as you would want to be treated is my motto. I buy cars too and honestly am in the business to pay for college/grad school (in a totally unrelated field). Fell in love with the Cobalt SS/SC when I saw it a few months before production in Boston. Plan on ordering one for myself in early 06 in Laser Blue.

According to a message sent to dealers from GM dated August 10th, 2005, Arrival Blue (91U) is no longer available and dealers must change their orders (including pending) immediately. Laser Blue (21U) is currently on constraint but should be available for production at the end of September (est. 9/26/05).

I would say build specs and availability change on an almost daily basis and a decent inventory manager (or whoever takes orders for the dealership) has to keep on top of things

With that said, it is hard for a sales person to keep up with production issues. Often they do not have access to this information. But they can ask their managers (I would hope) and should do everything possible to give you, the customer, a satisfactory answer.

Next step, go to another dealership who has the inventory or can get you what you want. They may be able to set up an exchange/swap with another dealership as well.

If you tell me what area you are in and exactly what you want/ordered, I could give you an idea of what is available in your area for Arrival Blue by doing a national/local search. A reasonable dealer could then set up an exchange or you could go directly there. (I am seeing several models in the Northeast in the color you want for example)

Thank you everyone for your help, I just got off the phone with GM and they said that they are done with the Arrival Blue Metallic, I just ordered the Laser Blue but they said it would take another 2 months for the car . anyways does anyone have any pictures of this laser blue color? Thanks!

The "about this photo" link said this is the laser blue metallic so I would assume it will look similar to the one on the SS. Funny thing is I can barely tell the difference between the two .

The Cobalt Laser Blue Metallic is the same as what you would see on a 05/06 Impala or Equinox. The pictures GM has in its Cobalt brochures or on the Web are not quite right, as it is a strong metallic, slightly purplish and has a somewhat chameleon paint quality to it (changes hue appearance depending on the light). The photos do not do it justice IMO. Its a blue which stands out and almost glows. I'll be ordering my SS/SC in the same color. Glad to hear GM was willing to help you out there and hope you get your SS/SC as soon as possible.

 

This problem sounds like this.... your dealer knows they cant get arrival and they also know it will be months until you get a laser blue if you ordered it just a couple weeks ago. They prob dont want to deal with waiting that long and would rather you pick another color and get it sooner...

everyone that pulls they whole "dealers are out to get you BS" you all need to know its not always like that... and also these people are trying to make a living on a small margin sale... so when they dont budge on price its called THEIR JOB

 

One of the local dealerships here in town has an SS in Arrival Blue. Go here and go to find vehicle. Use the zip of 79927 to find it. Not sure if ya want it to be transported from Texas to where you live though.
