OTTP Stage 2!

So... Im looking at getting this.. As I do believe I can do this myself. The only problem I have right now is with the PCM... I need my car as it is my DD... So what do you guys think is the best option on going about that. Should I order a new one and send my old one back in for a core?? THe thing I don't like about that is I have to get some security re learns done.. I have no idea what that means.

I was thinking about the tune getting emailed.. but I don't have a tuner. Could I possibly send the tune to my Chevy Dealer and have them use the tune and install it?

How did you guys get around it?

If its a security relearn and not a case relearn then that only takes about 30 minutes. I honestly don't think a GM dealer will flash something that isn't theirs to a vehicle due to liability purposes. May be easier to just send in your old PCM after the fact for the core return.

The chevy dealer cant flash hptuners tune on the car nor would they if they could, just older the kit without the tune ans get a custom tune it will be much better.

People throw PCMs up on here on occasion, just pick one up used and send that in to get flashed, then you can always go back to stock if needed.

I was actually wondering this as well. There's a reputable shop that will tune my car after a Stage 2 install but they are about an hour away. Would it **** up my car to drive that far with all the Stage 2 stuff installed without a tune?

I waited to get to the shop and instal it in the parking lot. Running a stage 2 without the tune or atleast a mail in tune, could be fatal

Install everything but the injectors... injectors are easy to swap.. Swap out the injectors when you're ready to get the tune.

DO NOT go into boost until then.

Or I could just be lazy and have the shop do everything haha. I like the setup in your sig. My goal is to hit 250HP myself.

I personally recommend going through ZZP instead of OTTP for the kit. on 3 different occasions (2 friends and I) have tried to retune our car only to find out that they don't VIN match the PCM's or even the same year operating system, (meaning it's untunable and you must pay a dealership $125 to reflash it back to stock) i am unsure how the cars even start with this but the guys at OTTP found a loophole.

Put a pcm on there, pay the extra money, and then send urs in, and get your money back, I'm not sure what the dilema is... And yes go zzp. Finally, whoever said put everything on and leave the injectors without going into boost, shame on you, that is terrible advice, don't do that ever. Just run with the zzp tune until it will work fine, your car won't blow up, just make sure you take it to a dealer and have them do a case relearn.

You'd be surprised at how many people out there give that advice as legitimate. I know of two who said that I would be fine with a stage 2 s/c kit on my LS with stock LS injectors as long as I didn't go into boost. Haha

downright rediculous, all the op needs to do is get a pcm from zzp and send his in, problem solved, why someone would recommend such a potentially dangerous thing is beyond me

I agree. Pay the extra money then send in the old one for a core refund at least. A lot less of a chance of things going boom.

K. Thats all I wanted to know. I didn't know if there was any hidden issues with their pcm or not, that's why I asked. And Case relearn? Anybody got a price range on that?

From what I've seen most GM dealers charge in the $50 range. I've heard aeroforce interceptors can do it as well as other tuning software but I'm not sure.

40 bucks for me from a dealer, my interceptor gauge wouldn't do the relearn, not sure why, but it was supposed to be able to do a case relearn, and HP tuners can do this as well

ok. Good news is that If i bring them the parts.. my local dealer will do all the install for 180 dollars. Just the stage 1 they will do it for 90 dollars. So I guess that's cool they will do install.. Even if it isn't GM.

****! I did had OTTP Stage kits but I send out my PCM to ZZP to have them retune. I got Stage kits with OTTP about 2 years ago and I am hoping they didn't do some kind of loophole on my PCM. I am sure ZZP know what to do with them.
