From looking at it I am thinking that is the 2.2 engine. Looks wicked none the less.

Ok I'm glad I'm not the only one thinking that. There isn't anything more than pictures of the car at the site. I guess I'll have to go purchase the new HCI to find out what he is running.

I love this statement. Building for the street!!!

When Jason Whitfield brought out his “New” car that hardly anyone knew about – people were pretty blown away. Out of trailer came this insane Chevy Cobalt that Jason is going to campaign this year. “I just want to go fast, and I want to do it on a consistent basis. We have all seen how these GM racecars have performed and proven themselves on the track. I just wanted a piece of it. I wanted to venture out into something that was different for me. I also wanted to do something with the Cobalt that I don’t think has been done before. I didn’t want to just build another racecar. I wanted to build a street car that I can take out on the street or to any shows I want to, and oh by the way lay down some insane HP numbers on my Dyno, and be one of the fastest street cars ever” – said Jason.

+1...you hit it right on the money. This car and every other car used on the drag strip competitively is the L61 (2.2L) For building drag car it may just be easier to take the 2.2L and build the internals. Unless it says LSJ, its not our cars.

Actually, it is...almost like building a stroker kit on the 2.0Ls...People put stroker kits on EVOs and what not because they only come in 2.0Ls.

1400hp in anything is gonna be a bad car to drive on the street....a fwd car isnt just bad to drive on the street at that much power, it is just reckless.

Show me one 1400hp car you can drive and race on the street.

Drivability aside, try getting 1400 to the ground... cmon... lets be realistic...
