P103 what does it mean?

Well it rained here on wed and as usual my car began to fall on it's face at anything over 4000 rpm my only guess is that this is due to the air filter having water on it but this time it threw a code which it has never done before I had a buddy scan it and it came up with P103. Anybody know what this is for sure?

P0103 is a code for the MAF sensor....probably sucked a bit of water in through the filter and got inside the maf sensor....clear the code and see it if continues

make sure you have all the moisture out of your air filter, if there is still water in there then the maf will still have it sucked into it. Seeing as those sensors are pretty delicate, you may have damaged it........

maf error 103 is when the upper limit measured goes beyond the stock Hertz (Htz) limit of 10000. 10000 htz is just a measurement for air flow it senses. as more air flow is created the MAF translates it into a electronic measurement in Htz. In HPtuners this level of 10000 Htz before the PO103 code is set can be raized. the Highest amount that the MAF can read is 12000 Htz. setting the max limit to 12500Htz should then never trigger this code. the purpose was to warn of a malfunction in control of boost that was considered to high as per GM production engineers. I triggered this code with GMS2 and K&N drop in filter. 2.79" pulley would trigger the code at will with hard acceleration and high RPM.

I've noticed that rainy weather sucks for our cars, even without driving through puddles.... I just dont think the engine likes humidity much (and its been raining fu*king non stop here in North Texas....... really pissing me off)

Try clearing the code before you let it sit over night, to let everything try and dry out maybe? Just trying to think of something that you could do without diving in to deep into the ecu/engine

Take the MAF sensor off of the intake. It is the thing plugged into the intake with the wire harness plugged into it. There are two screws on it, some cars are philips and others are torque screws. Take the whole sensor out of the intake and get a bottle of super contact circuit cleaner, any good electronics store should have it, and spray the entire sensor with it including the internals. I would really dose it and then let all of the excess fluid run out of it. Then air dry. When it is dry, put it back in the intake and plug the harness back on. Your MAF code will go away most likely if there was no damage to the sensor.

The dealer will want to replace it right away to make some fast cash. These sensors are easily cleanable.

cleaning sensor is useless. if it is wet then you need a different or fix the intake.

wont cause a 103 code though. maybe a 102 or 101 which ever is sensing low intake.
