Looking on Crate Engine Depots site, I see that they sell a filter for the by pass valve

I looked on mine and it is just a tiny piece of foam, didn't look dirty at all though. Is the by pass filter a service maintenace item? I looked in my owners manual and in my set of service manuals, but I didn't see anything even mentioning this filter. I honestly don't see how this filter could even affect anything if it was dirty, it is not like air is being drawn in.

What do you all think on this? Has anyone here changed their by pass filter or does it often that can give some info on this?
