PCM Question? Maybe Possible to use Dashawk

Can we upgrade our old pcm on the Cobalt SS/SC to the newer e67 pcm to use with the dashawk?

the ecm style is the same as the ls4 and ls2 cars/trucks. it's something inside the ecm that is different. say, the interal programing.

No, it can't be done. If you somehow found one that has the same type of crank sensor, it wouldn't communicate with the other modules such as the power steering and BCM. Its the same reason nobody has run a stand alone engine management setup on a streetable car.

i think the costs of buying a new ecm, a dash hawk, and hptuners. or something to reprgram the ecm itself with the cobalt map is a bit extreme. there are other factors in the system. such as the CAN style itself. sure you can change the ecm, but the other costs and factors you have to add into it, just simply outweighs the original idea.

No. You can't change the communications protocols on stock PCMs.

just buy a dual interceptor setup if u want to monitor 4 parameters. Or a single if you want to monitor 2

changing an entire ems system to run a gauge is a very foolish thing to do

i know about the interceptors. But having dashawk molded in your dashboard i think would look better then a interceptor gauge anyday. Plus i think they look like ****.

Ok, the reason the Dashhawk won't work is because of the protocol used by the PCM to communicate with other modules on the car's network. If you do anything to alter this setup, you will lose at least power steering, air bags, gauge clusters, ABS and other features I'm probably fogetting.

You would also be looking at the cost of a few grand just to buy a standalone, wiring harness and everything else you would need, which probably wouldn't work with a Dashhawk anyways not to mention what this would all cost in labor and tuning.

Im not trying to be a ***** about it. Just questions i have that if it cant be done then it cant be just trying to cover all the basics.

Why cant we start with the 2.4 ss ecm. Its basicly the same car just the supercharger.

Ok.

While you're at it, swap in a computer that is capable of controlling the toaster oven that will be in your glove box so you can cook up some dope ass grilled cheese samiches while you're running 10s in the 1/4 mile.

to be nice, all this work is pointless. by the time you get this to work right, is the time i stick a blow through turbo/carb setup on my car.

I was only joking with you...you're such a sensitive susan.

I didn't say anything technical cause Witt and Area47 did it for me already.
