a catch can would prolly work...i never ran one but when i get back from this deployment ill b buying one just to release sum pressure.. idk of to many ppl running breathers so i cant really chime in..i would think it lets unmeasured air into your engine but i could be wrong

too much pressure. Catch can will solve it from spraying everywhere. Happened to me a few weeks ago

did you do a leak down test

a caatch can or a breather wont fix it if you have other problems

compression dont mean squat you can still pass a comp test but fail a leak down test

volvs if you think the check vakve is the problem just plug the port in the head and get a -10 weld on bung for the valve cover and the your air intake and then put a air/oil seperator inline dont buy a cheap one

Agreed. Cheap catch cans barely work. You won't get a decent quality catch can for $100. Here's an interesting document that covers several different types of catch can designs and filtering media along with their advantages and disadvantages. This document is for a c5 corvette, but there is a lot of good information in here regarding catch cans that could be applied anywhere.

you want to use a air/oil seperator as it will filter out any oil and mostiure before it heads back into the engine

Are you kidding me? Really? Compression dont mean **** but leakdown test does. Hmmm. Ok, I highly highly doubt his leakdown will be high considering engine was just rebuilt and also compression is great. If leak down was bad his compression would be a tad bit lower. Since there wouldnt be a good seal.

Understand im not a idiot, I understand. So saying somthing don't mean **** is obviously wrong. Ecspecially when it does mean ****.

alright im going to chime in on this. What mrbelvedere said it correct james. Ive seen it more than once in the auto field. When i was running my 12 flat 1/4 mile every now and then under back to back pulls, the dipstick would come up a **** hair. only on the track under hard pulls with alot of load. I did a compression test as well as a leakdown test and everything was fine. I got a breather for the oil cap from steve, to install for when im running down the track. Last passes i made i ran faster and no more dipstick coming up. As far as the vent causing a lean condition thats a load of crap because when the vent is doing its job its under positive pressure (boost) anyways. They only time it MAY cause an issue is at idle under vacuum i have tested the theory and it simply does not cause a lean condition. Just throwing my results out there and what worked for me.

(i will be doing a catch can/ seperator this was just a quick fix that has worked for the track)

Yes I know this. But in aspects of the charaistics of what's going on. its not the leak down .. only happens when he gets on it when cold! Not warm .. I'm not a idiot.. what i am saying is usually with a bad leak down, there will be a sign of it within compression.. meaning lower on the cylinders. Op stated 190 compression , and if compression is that good and comes within the correct revolutions then i dont see it being leak down. Now it still can be. I understand, ive seen it before. but my point is, I dont see it being that. Which I told him to do a leak down before as well. Well before he made the thread.

well no offense to the op but hes a ******* for getting on it when its cold. If he just did a rebuild hes still seating the rings and if its pooping up on a cold wot pull then the rings havent sealed yet completely/expanded. Have him do a comp test when cold then. People need to wait until the coolant temp is at least 100 degrees before beating on their car
