pictures of TOG gasket issues > read if you bought a header
when i first took of my manifold and tried to line up the holes form the stock gasket on the prototype header i've had for about 3-4 months now, i noticed that the stock gaskets would not work. so i called tog and told them about it. and the same issue is with the production headers. i wanted to post this before anyone breaks down their car that you need a different gasket.
the pictures are a bit large, but it's necessary to see the gaps. the gaps are at the bottom of the 2 & 3 primaries

Do you mean that after all this time waiting TOG knows about this and is not sending us a replacement gasket?
If I recall correctly SCDyne includes a new gasket.

hey if any admins see this i think this needs to be stickied in the 2.0 forum, because alot of people are gonna mess up their cars if they don't see this
one person has already installed it and didn't know about the huge gaps

it uses the stock gasket, i did order a new one from the dealer, because it's made of lead and it's only like $3 so why not just put a new one in?
i was also going to sell this header, but i guess i am going to install it since it's coated and my prototype isn't, should help keep the temps down a bit more in the engine bay
wow, thats so dump that they wouldnt offer a new gasket for an obvious problem like that. its QUITE obvious that all of the holes are too big for the gaskey, plus the other problem.
at this point, with all of the problems that everyone is seeming to have with headers from these smaller companies, im just gonna wait till a bigger company makes one...maybe a good race header...or just a header then a highflow cat...hrm, too many possibilities...

If you smash flat the copper SCE it may work, but the gasket material from the local auto parts store would be a less expensive solution. I just dont know how long that stuff will last. What is it made out of ? Paper, graphite, cork?
From what I understand TOG is no longer in business so dont expect any resolve from them. Going to the manufacturer wont help any either, they took the prototype that Jon dropped off and made headers from that. The only LSJ vehicle ever at their shop was either a GM SEMA vehicle or the guy whos RedLine was used for fit testing for the SCdyne header.
Here is what I suggest:
1. Try to see if the SCE smashed will work. Summit usually has them in stock and I have them available also.
2. If the head flange is REALLY warped more than 0.125 and not just a curve that would go away when installed there may be a gasket that will actually take up that much error. Im looking at cost and time of delivery for both the upper and lower flange gaskets now.
3. ONCE I get my current exchanges/orders filled by the old manufacturer; I would be willing to just exchange any TOG headers that are too messed up to work or offer my 50% off upgrade deal for any LSJ header.
Its the least I can do - you think?
If you want to give me lip them post it in a PM to me - Here there are 30 some people who spent big cash and got screwed over. Lets all work together to find a solution instead of talking about how bad things are.

it is a layer of preforated metal sandwiched between two layers of asbestos
the one i have on there now has been on for over 7000 miles and is still in perfect condition as far as i can tell
Does anyone other than TOG have contact information for all the people who purchased these headers? It may be worth contacting them about any possible issues and keeping people updated on the status of things. (maybe someone can organize a contact list Not me that would be a conflict of interest)
From my experience just posting to the forums doesn't always get seen by the necessary people. I have been trying to keep people updated to the status of my own issues by posting on the forums, but word doesn't always get out since many people don't visit the forums more than once a month.
As soon as I get a price on the thick graphite gaskets I'll post it along with minimum purchase quantity. I'm confident that the gasket will take care of any leaks on the head flange. I just don't know if having the header moved 1/16" away from the head will cause any issues at the thermostat line or for the exhaust.
Update
The thick gaskets will cost $20.00 each.(The company retails other gaskets for $25.00 - They just don't make the ECOTEC gasket) They can be available by the end of next week if I order them now. I'm going to order 10 gaskets and would need someone in so-cal with a TOG header to try one and make sure it fits before we all know if it's a real answer.

I did have to make the gasket that goes on the flange by hand. I used the felpro ceramic metal sandwich gasket material it appears to be working great. I have noticed any power gains. In fact it feels the other way. Will the computer catch up with mod and adjust?
