Piston/Rod combo?

Hey
Am looking to buy the piston set from Diamond, in stock CR and bore size. Was wondering what rods would work seamlessly with these?

What HP are you after because stock are fine at least until 400.
If you want more, Pauter or Crower make replacement billet rods.

Sure..

Luckily I have you non turbo people :~) That means companies like Hahn and ZZP make quality, T3/T4 exhaust manifolds so I can choose which turbo I want to throw on :~)

Stock Turbo. It's a TD04L-14T, i'm looking into the Hahn manifold, with possibly a GT28 or GT35R to push me. Though, that's a 3" Downpipe and high flow cat from BSR Right now i'm running at about 16psi, with meth/water injection coming in at 10.5psi

JBP rods are identical but most expensive.

Eagle:
CRS5765C3D
C to C 5.765"
Bore ?
Pin ?

Crower
B93731B-4
C-to-C 5.767 in
Bore diameter: 2.047 in
Pin 20mm

Pauter
C-to-C 145.5mm (5.728 in)
Bore diameter: 52.1 mm (2.051 in)
Pin 22mm

I could never find specs on the stock rod though to see how these compare

JBP rods are made by Pauter and are cheaper if not ordered from a Canadian distributor who first has to pay brokerage to get them into Canada.
As it is, I paid $785 directly from Pauter and then I paid shipping/taxes and duty on them.

good to know. When I emailed a distributor for JBP a while back I was told they were exact same size as the stock rods. When I called pauter they said "we have about 6 different sizes we do for the LSJ but here is the most common one"

Boy, it was a pain in the ass to find parts for the LSJ.

It can be a hassle.
Pauter does many rods for the "Ecotec" and unless the specifically have a part number, they seem to get confused.
Pauter also has the HD rod for the LSJ which cost the same as the other billet rods. The HD rods are the ones we are using in my 2 engines.

Got a 437bhp Neon, S2k (Not entirely sure what he's done, i'll talk to him next meet), the Saab, boosted honda, A 240SX with the SR20DET drop in it, some Civic with a 54 trim in it (insane, havn't seen it though he just got it running). Then some other random cars.

So the consensus is that the rods are good for 400bhp? I want them to be reliable as well..I don't want to rebuild my motor more then once (or twice, but not because I blew it up)

The stock LSJ rods are forged. JBP says they are a strong rod with one downside at higher hp, the aren't as efficient as the aftermarket billet rods. For your goals you are safe.
Then again, you are already inside the motor.

We carry the Diamond pistons. We currently dont carry any forged rods yet, as there is not a major company who manufactures them yet.

I'm fairly certain Crower doesn't have an off the shelf part for the LSJ. Everything listed in thier catalog has too small piston pin bores and the rods are a bit too short for a drop in application iirc.

Blown 4-banger had some made and posted a part # for them, so if a retailer is trying to sell rods, they can be had.
You are probably right that they aren't really handy but neither are Diamond pistons. Only certain #'s are made at a time.

I was waiting to see a part number, don't remember him posting one. I asked him about them and he said that they were full custom and hopefully they would add them to the catalog seperate from the other Ecotec rods but I don't think they ever did.

If he did post a number I'm probably just missing the post.

Well I could be mistaken about him posting it. Maybe I am just remembering him say there was one. I have been wrong before, ask my x-wife.
I know the HD Pauter rods, I had made, come with a part number.

The crower rod I used is part # B93731B-4 which is listed for engine "Ecotec 2.2L/2.0L" but it is not a drop in replacement for the LSJ. My builder said the length was different and the pin size was different I think

Heh, I know that feeling.

The Pauter ones are definetly quality pieces.

Magnus Uhr is telling me that my block should be reinforced for that kind of power. And with a Swedish guy named Magnus Uhr..I don't know if I can deny.

What do you guys think?
