Power Steering recall, and tranny problems
Power Steering recall, and tranny problems
My '05 SS/SC was included in this recall, and had the pump installed today at the local shop by my bro. It is rated at a 9/10ths hr. job, and my bro finished the job in under half an hour, and this was his first one. Even though my car never had a power steering loss, I can feel a huge difference in resistance. Dry steer is about the same, but when I am moving, it turns way easier than it used to.
Anyway, with the pump installed and ready to go, I brought up my transmission problems up to my brother. So he checked it out and tried to isolate the problem. He got it to grind into reverse about 20 times out of 30 or so attempts, so the problem is fairly consistent. He got the write-up complete and we are currently lined up to contact the warranty company to see whether they are going to send a new transmission, or if they are just going to ship a rebuild kit. Either way, no more grinding soon!!!!! I'm pretty stoked.
This brings me to another point. While the tranny is on the floor, it would be a wise idea for me to get a new clutch, but I am tight on cash. Any suggestions on a good, inexpensive clutch (non- OEM) that grabs decently and will last me a decent amount of time? I've looked at some SPEC kits, an ACT 6 puck sprung kit, and an Exedy stage 3 kit, but I'm wondering if there are any other good clutches for the F35. I would also like to know whether or not the kits come with a flywheel.

hey man get the GMP clutch kit for your car. I have it and it has nice clamping power comes with the LNF ugraded TOB/SLAVE and its under 300 for the whole kit. Crate engine depot has them for a good price. You wont find a compairable clutch for the money. I ran a 13.1 on my third pass on the new setup, It will go 12's on street tires. And ive won 2 A mains at our circle track as well.
I will be super excited to see if this power steering motor will tighten up my steering. It just doesn't seem the same as before, and my whole suspension is basically new...
