Live with 8.5 for now and then redo it once you are capable of driving faster (this costs more).

Here is the problem, the car will be capable of running in the low 7's
BUT
new NHRA rules supposedly add some bars for the cage at that speed. One of those bars virtually eliminates the passenger seat. No passenger seat means no street driving because who the hell drives by themselves in a fun car?
So please take a moment and give me your feed back. I never wanted a trailer queen. I don't want a trailer queen but without these bars 8.5 is all I will be allowed to run. After all the heartache that doesn't sound good considering the car should run very low 7's.
AAArrrrrgggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!

keep it streetable..
not having the full correctness just means you cant crash that one 6-7 second run you do before you get kicked out lol
or you can get an inline boost regulator and bleed off boost from the procharger basically a wastegate.. then you can run low and high boost...

A brother of mine who runs low 10's agrees with you.
Having it be streetable is required for me to run at the 'street legal' events which is where I can get practice before I go for my NHRA lisence. Perhaps option 3 will work in the end.
I have to say that I agree with that sentiment.
On a side note, I was remembering when you first joined here you were so polite, maybe even more so than I. Reading your posts lately and I detect a more straight forward attitude from you. I am just imagining this???
That actually seems like an idea......
Because of all that I have been through, I really like the idea of being able to have some fun on the street. Even if that fun is just looking at the faces of people wondering what the hell is up with that Cobalt.
Street legal is what I have always wanted. I accepted that I wouldn't have A/C nor a stereo system and if I can't drive in wet weather so be it. But to never run on the street is getting really hard to wrap my head around, even if I have a quick DD Cobalt.

ya honestly it would be nice to see it go as fast as possible but seriously what u've put ur wife through might as well just run the 8.5 ..really since your already so low whats the diff of 1 second like seriously besides like u said whats the point of driving with one person in a fun car (not like you'll be able to drive when its even raining lol
Can you make that bar bolt-in/removable? So you can pull the pass. side seat and install the parts of the cage for track use, then remove it for the street?
Honestly, a 7 sec street car is a compromise anyway, trying to keep the seat makes little sense. But I understand your logic with this whole project and it's purpose, so i'm just trying to be helpful.
Or be happy with mid 8's, thats still way ******* fast...

As for mid 8's being really fast, I really look forward to doing that next year.
Exactly. Slicks on the street? Cops hassle people for that around here. This is not a cruising car. You will never be able to have a conversation...

damn are you trying to get a 25.2 stamp? we're 25.4 and got certified with a jungle of bars but none that interfere with a secondary seat.
did something change this year with the 25.4? god i hope not
<edit> is it a situation where a removable bar won't work? i'm not sure how they are rating the necessity of this new placement if it's been ok until this point

Hey......you always, from day one, said you wanted this to be a street able car. 8.5 is stupid fast AND you still achieve your goal. In the long run i think you won't be as happy if you don't have a seat for that passenger.

no im still nice as can be just blunt sometimes
The way I see it, there are always going to be "cobalts" that can run faster than 7's. I.E. drag cars.
Make something that you can enjoy and show on the street.
Life's too short to only run 1/4 miles in a car.

The nice I noticed as well as the blunt. It was just an observation not critism in any way.

I tend to agree because with the cost of all of this, only 1/4 mile at a time seems anti climatic.
