Pulley.

I currently have the gm stage 2 setup. When i change to 60lb injectors will i need a new injector harness. Also when i grab a 2.8 inch pulley, do I need anything else, or can I just buy the 2.8inch pulley?

Do you guys feel that 2.8inch is low enough for the mods in my sig. I will have a heat exchanger, dual pass end plate with intercooler, and methanol. Is 2.8inch safe, or should i go higher, or should i go lower, let me know.

PS: I don't want to over spin the blower and lower the life of it.

Joeyavhu 06-30-2008 01:10 AM

2.8 Will be safe, however, you will NEED to tune if you move up to the #60 injectors.

Zach06CobaltSC 06-30-2008 01:11 AM

oh yes i am well aware of this. my tuner will not be back until the beginning of july, and will be able to tune me shortly thereafter. So i am extremely excited.

Joeyavhu 06-30-2008 01:14 AM

Okay then, good luck. Have fun with that little extra bit of boost.

Zach06CobaltSC 06-30-2008 01:18 AM

I can't wait to see how much of a gain i am going to get from this. My goal is 300whp. Wish me luck.

Joeyavhu 06-30-2008 01:28 AM

Hmmm... 300WHP, with a 2.8 will be pushing it. It might be possible though. Get some cool weather, use that meth good and pull a bunch of timing out and it just might be possible.

Good luck with it. Let me know how it goes.

Zach06CobaltSC 06-30-2008 07:01 AM

My highest dyno currently at the shop was 270 with a 4th gear pull, in 3rd i am averaging 265whp. With a tune and 60lbers and a 2.8 I am almost 100% sure i will see 300whp.

Edit: this is also with me untuned for the meth, i am just using the meth to cool the temps down, i have not advanced the timing in the least, it just helps reduce knock, and increases the octane.

I don't need to change hubs or anything do I. The 2.8inch pulley can fit on the gm stage 2 hub correct?

kenhebe 06-30-2008 07:05 AM

You are full of crap about your numbers. You will not see anywhere near 300 whp with that set-up. You will see between 240-245. Look at the mods in my sig and I am no where near 300 whp. The only difference is that you would have a 2.8 in pulley and I have a 2.9 A tenth of an inch is not going to make 50hp.

Zach06CobaltSC 06-30-2008 07:07 AM

well considering i have a dyno sheet that proves im at 270whp currently, i think i will make it to my goal.

Kibosh3 06-30-2008 07:28 AM

good luck...apparently only a few lsjs have ever hit 300 whp on our m62s without another power-adder behind it...i have very similar mods to u and am now seeing 300 whp...on bottle

Zach06CobaltSC 06-30-2008 07:35 AM

i am currently seeing 260-270 on the dyno currently. When i drop to a smaller pulley, and get an amazing tune, they will get me there, or very close, if i have to drop to a 2.7 just to hit the 300mark, i will do it, and i am slightly thinking about a 35shot =P.

freakta 06-30-2008 09:41 AM

well hell with stock exhaust 3inch pully meth and an ebay crushed cai i got to 255 so its not just what you put on its how quality the parts and the tune is that you put on i will be going for the elusive 300 mark with a set of cams and a smal port job on the head

I can get a dyno sheet that shows I have 500 hp. That means nothing. More importantly, you have not shown your dyno sheet on this site. Show me a video of your car on the dyno and I will believe you. I am not hating on you. If you are actually hitting those numbers, then great. But I find it hard to believe that myself and two other cars in the Dallas area have pretty much the same set-up as you and are not seeing anywhere close to those numbers.

your dyno is  / no way possible 300whp w that set up... your not fooling anyone but yourself... have you been to the track what are your times those will back you up. but as for now buddy your #s are inflated...so much that its funny:lol:

i once told a guy i was racing my car had 260whp (only256) your just crazy...

the performance shop should get there dyno re-calibrated

rrutter81 07-01-2008 10:49 PM

tuners will do whatever to skew ur dyno to make it impressive

hungryhip-ccp 07-01-2008 10:57 PM

2 step colder plugs...

Zach06CobaltSC 07-01-2008 11:20 PM

ah good call on the plugs, wasn't sure if it was 1 step colder or 2 steps colder. Relax guys, i am averaging 260-265whp with a max spike of 270whp on one run. I don't think that 260ish whp is out of range for my current mods and low iat2s.

Trust me, if I hit the 300whp mark after my tune then I will have a video of it.

also, im talking 300whp on that dyno, which would mean i am looking to get a solid 35whp from the 2.8inch pulley and a tune.

lsjwannabe 07-02-2008 12:30 AM

do not go two step colder, get 1 step colder autolites. You can get them from intense

listen to him, i have yet to find something b.s. he says. And under the circumstances he is right. 1 step is good for suppression

Zach06CobaltSC 07-02-2008 07:50 AM

1 step colder it is, thanks guys.

hungryhip-ccp 07-02-2008 04:01 PM

it all depends on what your car likes ie

1. how much timing?
2. meth?
3. full exhaust to reduce kr

you have to run the plugs then look at the heat mark on the ground strap you want it to just come down the turn and stop do a search on "how to read spark plugs"

were just offering places to start... YOU will have to fine tune your plugs...

heat range and gap... dont just buy some plugs and throw em in...
