Pulley and tune question

Ok this is for a friend.
He has ordered the zzp stage 3 kit. He's got the kit now the 2.8, 60's, and pcm etc...
He needs his car to drive to work and has no other rides soy question is can he hook up the 60's and zzp pcm and run it with the stock pulley until friday? Pulley puller is running late.
Wilo this be ok?
Thanks

You can, might be a little rich. Won't hurt anything if you did.

Yeah, it's safer to run a bigger pulley on a tune meant for a smaller pulley than the other way around. Worst case scenario it's going to run pig rich. The question is why would he do this though? Like I know the "ZOMG NEW PARTS" feeling, but why drive a car that's not going to have an ideal tune on it, especially when it's your only transportation. The best idea is to wait until you can install the whole kit all at once.

okay, if you were to throw a smaller pulley on a car that still had smaller injectors. like a 2.6" pulley on 42# injectors, yes there would be PROBLEMS.

But OP what your asking is totally fine and in fact I have switched pullies up and down many times and the WOT fueling and fuel trims generally stay the same most of the time.

Yeah, he's running a larger pulley than what it's tuned for, boost away.

I understand that he should wait. Its his only car and he sent his old pcm in for the zzp one and its his i only car/ride to get to work. So it should be ok? Just when friday hits when the puller gets here just swap em over and it will be fine?
Thanks guys much appreciated

I hope he's used to driving in limp mode and/or doesn't have a catalytic converter.

It might. The fueling is calculated assuming a 2.8 pulley. The bigger the pulley (stock is....3.35?....I think), the richer it gets. The richer it gets the more fuel you're throwing into the cat. The more fuel you throw into the cat.....well you get the point.

EDIT: That being said, assuming he doesn't have a long commute, he's not going to be beating the **** out of it, and it's only for 4 days, it shouldn't completely fry the cat. Usually takes a couple weeks and a few good WOT runs to do that.

lmao............. the car is tuned via maf or ve so if your using a larger pulley then the tune sent you will run very very very bad fuel trims. Yes you can drive the car but you can get issues like s cel popping up, clogging the cat, making the plugs foul out, making issues with the ringlands and rings... ect so be weary.

doubt cat will clog in less than a week though, might take awhile longer than that. ss3 has a good point, but those may never happen.

OP just tell your friend to go for it.

Well, I'm going to assume there are different fuel values, and timing tables, and that common sense politely says there is a guy named Murphy. You may have heard of him. He has a law, and it states that if it can go wrong it will go wrong, so, in light of this no.

My car is my DD as well, there's no way I would risk it. When/If you come back say... Tuesday and it's like "ZOMG meh cah is FTL", the opinions will be a bit different when you tell them what you did, and how it messed something up. Meanwhile, we'll all still be driving our cars. My .02

no timing is still the same, fuel tables? lsj's have very few. Most that will happen IMO is you will run a little rich. If I was in this situation I would wait, but if I couldn't wait... I would defiantly do it, and if it turns out it's too rich it is only another 15mins to swap to stock.
