question about AEM UEGO

i've got stock header/dp, where do I need to mount the Bosch Sensor for the UEGO? Sorry to post a new thread over this, but I looked for 20 minuted and could find ****. I"m sure it's noted in about 40 different places and I probably overlooked every last one of them. All help is greatly appreciated!!

bump!

umm no... thats what you car uses to adjust your AFR the sensor needs to be 12-36 in from the head read the instruction that came with it, unless you bought it used... and its also one of the shitiest WB ive ever had...

First o2 sensor before it goes through the cat...that could mean a lot of things.

well I dont have an instruction manual. It's a brand new gauge, but the guy I bought it from took it outta the box along w/ all the wiring and sensor, then he lost the box w/ the manual. Hell I got it for $100, I couldnt pass it up. So, i'm gonna go to the local exhaust shop tomorrow and have them weld in the bung that came with it, but I just need to know exactly where to put it....

Before the cat and between 9 and 3 o'clock. Meaning parallel to the ground is the limit.

After the flex (obviously) but before the cat if you have one.

^^^^^ that's what someone told me, but **** it, i'll just weld in the bung and do the damn thing the right way. I"m takin it to the exhaust shop in a couple hours. They're cutting the cat out altogether, and they're gonna weld the bung in the pipe they put in place of the cat on the 10 degree angle and all that ****, so hopefully it'll work out right! I do appreciate all the help!

That's if you don't have a cat. If you have a cat then it will throw off your WB readings, so you have to mount the WB before the cat.

That should work fine, one thing to note though. When you remove the cat you will get a check engine light because you cat isn't operating up to par (in other words the car will yell at you for taking out the cat).

I don't know if the AEM UEGO will allow you to run wide and narrow band. The LC-1 does and people often replace the forward O2 sensor with the bosch unit that comes with the LC-1. They have to run it as a narrow and wide band but it does it just fine.

ok so here's what happened. I went to the exhaust shop, they cut out the cat, welded in a pipe and mounted the sensor in that pipe, basically up toward where the top of the cat would have been, maybe just a smidge lower. 1st. it sounds like total ****. I've got a borla catback w/ stock d/p and header. So I guess that was to be expected. 2nd, the readings on the gauge are bouncing back and forth like crazy. It goes from 12.1 one second right up to 16.8, then back to 14.5, and so on and so forth. That's not normal is it? What have I fucked up?

ohh yeah thats normal (hence why i said the aem is junk ^^^^)

have you ever had a WB before? they all do it but the aem just blows cause you cant do free air calibration

thats the front o2 switching from lean to rich its narrow band thats just the way it is!

go wot its steady as a rock then right?

no i've never had one before. and as far as WOT, it's not exactly steady as a rock but it doesnt vary near as much as what it would be at just normal driving speed. so is there anything I can do to make it work better? or is it just somethin that is what it is?

If your on a stock tune or for that matter a staged tune it will still rise or fall at WOT. But once you get a tune, the tuner should be able to get your AFR locked in at a specific number. I say get a tune cause now you have removed the cat and will have to at least tune out the rear O2 and any fault codes. Might as well get a full tune at that point.

yeah that's exactly what it's reading. But, tuning is the reason I wanted to get the gauge in and working. I've currenty got the car jacked up and torn apart. I got the injectors and plugs changed yesterday, as well as put on a lower billet grille and AVS tail light covers. Now i'm just waiting on my pulley system from Nate so I can put on my new pulley and belt and the Stiffy and go get it tuned
