question about plugs

i just switched from autolite platnium to ngk 1 step colder and when i pulled out the autolites i noticed a white substance on the plug and a little red or orange near the bottom of the plug what do these colors mean i've heard that orange or redish is just a chemical burn

oh and the autolites where gapped at 39 and i gapped the ngk at 38 since i dropped pulley size. does this sound right?

almost looked like white powder but not powder

oh well what about the plugs i have i re gapped them at .35 seems to be running pretty good..but what about the white...i heard white means too lean which i doubt its that with the stage 2 tune or too hot...which 1 step colder should take care of that right?

if .35 gap is fine with your irridiums then they are fine with copper.

If your running too lean no plug in the world will save you. It just supresses detonation a bit and helps.

can you upload a pic of the plug so i can see... multiple readings can be done by looking at the plug..i need to see the coloration of the white.. where it is.. how it fits.. and the rest

Yeah, you need to post a pic of the plug if you want it read, a description really doesn't help.

id really need to see a log of your engine before "helping" you. If you have hptuners or some sort of ODB2 logger i can help.

Otherwise i suggest sticking to the plugs for now.

this look like the right one to you, http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NGK-R...spagenameZWD1V

Or you know of a better place to pick them up at? Looks like autozone and advanced auto dont carry them

nevermind, i picked up these (1 step colder) http://www.zzperformance.com/cobalt_...ts1.php?id=490
