question on a custom exhaust

well what do u guys think about this canister http://www.gravanatuning.com/applica..._Tip_2.5_Inlet

then i can get from the cat back cause the muffler place will build me like a straight from the cat back for about 70 bucks so thats what 217+70 u do the math and compare it to what 700 bucks for most exhausts on the market id save alot right?

The "Titanium Tip" looks awesome, but I dont care much for the carbon fiber. Its covered under the car, and I wouldnt trust anything lesss than stainless or titanium canister.

I dont think that the local muffler shop is going to be able to do mandrel bends! And that is what you are going to pay 600+ for. With out the right bends this system could cost you more power then it gives you. F/I Cars are realy picky about that kind of thing.

i honestly wouldnt take the cheap way out.... if anything get the gmpp exhaust....... and im pretty sure mendrel bends retain the stock diameter of the pipe, rather than rolled bends, which have ripples wich in turn slow down air flow.......

mandrel is bending a tube without altering the shape on the internal pipe.

It keeps the tube round all the way through the bend. Better Flow.

Not Mandrel

Most exhast shops can do mandrel bends it just cost a little more. But custom exhast are better then catback click together pieces of crap. Have you ever seen what a catback click together looks like after 2-3 years, they are faling apart. Water gets in the conectionsand rots them out alsoa custom ehausts can get rid of alot of wasteed bends and you can choose what ever muffler and tip you want. And if you know someone you can acctually get a custom exhaust cheaper then a catback. I'm getting a complete custom exhaust with a magnaflow mufler all mandrel bent for under $500 CDN

^^^ umm, Most Shops can "Order" Mandrel bends.. They are made on a rather expensive device. Any shop that claims to be able to make them, ask to see their work. Bet its a good crush bend and not Mandrel.

you can order the gmpp exhaust from the dealer now..... the stage 2 is a long ways off, so dont get to excited about it.... and for the money, if your going to spend 700 bucks on a pully, i think your nuts..... stage 1 is a good investment......

Rarely will you find a shop that will mandrel bend on the spot. Most have mandrel bends to assemble an exhaust.

Just so you know the unit needed to do a mandrel bend is about 250,000. I local shop will most likely not have it.
I found a shop near me that dose have one and a full catt back from them was going to be 650.00. Thats not any cheaper then the ones on line and it was not going to be stainless ether.

Im going to go with ether a magnoflow or a DC sports catt back.

Later.

Stainless is want you really need to save for as a minimum.

All else will fail in two or three years.

hey

i thought they only made a 2.4 dc sportz cat back and i just thought a full straight would be better cause its more flowing. and please explain to me why a madrel bended one would create more power then a straight flowing one thats just straight and how much horse power do u think the straight would lose or gain from the stock . do u also think that the canister alone would add more power i kno it would give it a deepier throatier sound but i dont care about sound im all about the horsepower for cheapest price.

it would give it more rice...... dont degrade the car by putting a fart can on it...... mendrel bent pipe allows the inside of the bend to be nice and smooth, unlike the crushed bending type, which makes ripples, which reduce flow.... if you are just going to get a muffler, try magnaflow, rksport, and borla....... Rk sport used to have just a muffler for the cavalier, i think they still have it for our cars too......

I want to order just a muffler for now. I am saving up money for a full catback. since the the end of the exhaust pipe is 2.25 in diameter should i order and 2.25 inlet muffler or a 2.5???? Im pretty new into the exhaust world. I just want the muffler now for a little sound.
