I just finished putting my new oil filter on. put the cap back down and notice your able to turn it by hand. Is it suppose to be a loose fit or really snug? maybe I put it on wrong?

 

Once its tightened down it should be tight enough where you can't turn it with you hands.

 

the cap should be torqued to 18 lb ft

 

Check to make sure you didn't lose the o-ring on the cap. You should be able to tighten it by hand up until the very end when you will need to wrench it. But don't over tighten it. It will feel as if it bottoms out.
