Quick spark plug questions

I want to pull my plugs and check the gaps and what not and i figured while i am at it to throw some new ones in because it cant hurt...I hear copper is the best for F/I, because platinum fouls more easily in F/I engines, but copper wears out faster, what about iridium, I know they are more expensive but is it worth the increase in cost...i'm stock except for an airbox mod, I planned on going with NGKs and gapping them at .040 according to NGKs website...any info from anybody here?

bump for this real quick

copper and iridium are pretty much the same as far as performance

just copper is cheap, and wears out quicker
iridium is pricey, but lasts longer.

as far as gapping, spend an afternoon trying 3 different gaps in your car, see which one it likes the most

never just trust what someone or some website suggests to use, especially when your modded

and use the rule of thumb, that you should ONLY gap smaller, if you have to.

Just last week I put some new NGK coppers in and love them. I already had them in previously but up top I could fill it have spark blow out at times so I gapped them down to .38 and it runs a whole lot better my mods are stage 2, full exhaust, and airbox mod for reference.

indexing plays a huge role in high hp vehicles. i picked up 3 hp by doing this in my gxp i had. then again, it was over 400 hp. you could index them on the lsj, but it's more or less a moot point to fire them directly at on particular intake valve. if you're dead set on doing this, i'd aim the ground strap between the intake valves. {dohc is amusing}

yulp. sad isn't it.

the rules of the game haven't changed since 1942 till now. just different ways of achieving the same goal. some old school tricks work great.

just my input im gapped at .33 on the plugs im going to put in on my next oil change. Thats about what we have gapped at each time we have changed them since all my mods and the car is running great, i was getting some misfire codes when we gapped them around .39 - .40 right after the mods so that why we played and got so low
