Rebel Intake Problem

Ok I installed my Rebel CAI earlier today and the install went well and the first drive home from my friends house was fine. But the second time I went to drive the car after letting it sit for an hour it started acting weird. Ill explain each problem in depth.

1: It has the bouncing idle problem now. When I drop into neutral to come to a stop the idle bounces. I never had this problem with my K&N that I replaced with the Rebel. I know some people say cleaning the TB will solve the problem but why would this start now?

2: When driving if I take my foot off the gas the car seems to jerk pretty hard. It happens in all gears but not consistently but more then not.

3: This is the worst problem. It wont go over 6k now. It feels like its choking off. It wasn't doing this all night, but it just started on my way home. It feels like the car just runs out of life.

If anyone can help me with this it would be great. I unplugged the battery during the install to reset the PCM and everything so I don't understand what is going on. Its not throwing any CELs. I never had this problem with my K&N and I installed it exactly the same.

How much did that run you? And why would it happen after the install of my new intake?

Yeah I know the idle problem is a common problem and most people clear it up by cleaning the TB but the other problems like not being able to go over 6k rpms is what is worrying me the most.

Could it be that the added airflow just magnified the problem with the carbon build up? If I remember correctly, the RAW is a 3" intake, correct??

I had the very same problems with my car but when i put my K&N on I just pulled the TB off and cleaned it and all of your above stated problems went away. So easy a caveman could do it.

Mine used to hesitate at about 6K before I cleaned my TB.....I don't know if anybody else had that happen but I did.....Give it a whirl and see. Best advice I could give ya.

Yeah its 3 inches. But did yours have the choking off problem at 6k? Ill pull the TB after work tomorrow and check it. Hopefully it will fix it but Im not too confident in it.

nvm beat me too asking the question

that or TB cleaner. both products cost about the same....like $2 a car.

the difference is huge. I'm actually going to clean mine again because the problem is slowly coming back.

See this really wasnt a hesitation, the car just wouldnt go anymore. I could feel it sytart dying at 4500k and at 6k it just had no life left.

Oh and I forgot to mention another problem the car hesitates while just cruising in fifth. Like it feel like it pulls back and then goes and then pulls back and goes, this happens while im not even changing the position of the throttle.

I don't know if you can clean the sensor.....I think with your old intake water could have been getting on it and just shot it....

If it is in fact that, get a Hydroshield if you don't already have one. And still clean the TB...car should run all better again.

I have a hydrosheild. But if the MAF was shot wouldn't it be throwing a CEL?

Mine never threw a CEL.....And the first time I took it to a dealership they were like, "oh nothing is wrong with it" and handed it back to me...

It took walking in the back and getting the tech I knew to go take my car out for a minute to get something done.
