lol nice infliction, i kinda want to debate putting in pistons, thoughts? I just want to make good reliable power around 300 whp, how much more is it going o cost/time will it take to drop pistons in?

When the head comes off i'd inspect the cylinders/piston tops. To do the piston swap expect at least another 5 hours labor minimum. They also come at a price, a little noiser/tiny bit more oil burning.
*Edit*
And to top it off, add the cost of new rod bearings(why reuse if they are being taken apart anyway) which are cheap around $25 for the set, 8 new rod bolts(dont remember price), and the cost to rehone the cylinders. Then you have to worry about proper ring gap and yadadada just not worth it if you catch my drift.

Not worth it for his plans imo, his 'problem' isn't even bad. He SHOULD get in the cylinder with a boroscope to see any scoring/scratches on the wall. If nothing is there **** i'd say **** the whole thing and save the money.

I only built mine because I had planned on spraying it a **** ton but when I lost my job plans changed of course. Now it's just a measly stage 2 car with pistons in it LOL.

We could always just swap motors too Max

i told him that in the first place. i told the story to my dad who is 61yr's old and he said no point in pulling apart the motor for a little bit of wear.

dan, when can i come down and check my compression with your compression tool?

^^ i haz the tool! Yes I have the head gasket kit and rods and what not.... If I can find a place to do the test with the boroscope then I could do that to, but I ve been hearing a little bit of chatter that i havent noticed before on the number 4, could be the timing chain but i dont recall it being there before. I still think have a 20% leak and not knowing if its the piston or a ring is still kinda...... scarey

update....

Boroscoped the cylinder and there was no indication that the piston was damaged (cracking, broken) Saw that the tip of the plug melted on top of the piston head but now it looks like the detonation had damaged the valves and not caused the piston rings or ring lands to blow. There is a slight ticking/tapping noise coming from the valve train that was not there before so this is now a matter of getting a new head on bc the valve guides might be getting fucked up. Dynod it for ***** and giggles and came in at 240/209....... from a previous 262/228....... wow

It was like 299.7 corrected, but 303 uncorrected. Everyone posts their uncorrected charts anyway
