reving

when i rev at a stand still say just kinda showing off and the rpms get to high they will come down then jump up to about 2k then go back down. Just wondering why its doin that. 2006 2.0 ss/sc

It's possibly ur throttle body needs a cleanin. Other than that, I can't see why it'd do that. I've done the "show off rev" and it takes forever to come down, but doesn't jump back up after it does.

Take it off, use some carburetor cleaner, make sure its all dry.....you should be good after that......keep a small wire brush close if you have corrosion on it

And be really careful with it when you take it out. You don't wanna do anything to damage the butterfly valve or it's mechanism cuz then the jumping rev's won't be ur only problem

yeah my friend said he had same problem, he cleaned the throttle body with stp throttlbody and carb cleaner, its the oil commin out of the vent on valve cover,gummin it up...recomend oil catch can,i need to clean mine too

its not the throttle body, its the emissions control unit, its trying to burn all that gas you just threw into the cylinder, so there is not all that unburnt emissions out the tailpipe

idk exactly how normal that is my car never does this. i just fixed a car that was doing this by cleaning the throttle body and then the MAF sensor
