a year and a half might be tough.
its easy to say thats caused by general wear and tear on the roads.

but some people have had good luck getting them refinished.
some have even got a new set of rims.

give it a shot. what can it hurt?

No, they will not do it. I have the tire and rim protection plan added onto my car when I bought it last year ad I have a small chip on the sidewall of the rim. They told me since it is only cosmetic I would have to pay for the repair. Now if my rims get dented or cracked they will fix or replace the rim free of charge. That is with the protection plan. Not sure if you have it but if you don't chances are they will say that they can do nothing about it unless you pay.
