Rob(FAST06SS) tune with stock pulley and injectors - YES it IS worth it

I'm looking at July before I go to big with SS , in the meantime I wanted to see how much could be gained with just cleaning up the PCM while keeping the stocker injectors and pulley . So , I met up with Rob(FAST06SS) and let him have at my car . And results he did get . First off the , the slow times I was running is completely due to VERY bad air . MY 13 sec passes the DA was -1000 below sea level . Friday night at Muncie dragway , the DA was reading between 2500-3000 above sea level . Hello Colorado Anyways , my first baseline pass was a 14.93@95 , I did miss 2-3 ...but recovered pretty qwicky . I only did one more baseline , but it was nice clean problem free pass . That was a 2.28 60ft 14.80@96 . The next couple hours , consisted of Rob tuning my car in between runs . By the time all was said and done I ran 2 back to back 14.30's passes at 100 mph with the air quality not improving at all . Thats an average of about 4 tenths and 4 mph with a lil laptop time . Freakin insane

Other than the tune itself , heres a couple more things about the tune that made me happy

-Launch control - Cut boost level 50% off the line . On radial tires , I was launching at 3500 rpms , and coaxing a small amount of wheelspin to prevent a bog and was consistently , and effortlessly mind you , cutting back to back 2.1 60ft's . If I could had more time to get more passes in I know I coulda high 1.9 . This feature kicks ass

- raised rev limit to 7000 , and pulls hard all the way to it . You do need to gap your plug at .035 going that high though . If you dont , in my car anyway it felt like I had a miss at about 67-6800 . Re-gapping the plugs solved that .

- Set both fans at the lowest possible setting they could come on at which is 192 (stock is 210 I do belive ) . With both fans on I was able to keep the IAT2 temps not to much over 115 sitting idling in the pits and the car stayed below 190 , again sitting there idling . Before the car would creep to 210-215 and IAT2 would get as high as 160 idling thru the pits

Stock driveablity has improved as well , idle quality is alot smoother . Overall this just made a much much bigger difference than I thought it would . Proabably the best $200 Ive spent on my car yet . A big thanks to Rob , the man knows how to deliver the goods and is a super cool person to deal with .

Had a great time , thanks a million

FYI - I dont know how accurate the calculators are . I popped my 14.38 in to the elevation correction calculator on F-body.com and it spit out a 13.64 correcting back to the air I ran my 13.95 in . The was a 3700 ft difference between then and this past friday .

I wonder if a regular shop could do what he did, on the dyno?

....if they knew where to find the power . The LSJ pcms are really touchy . I did all the tuning with LT1's , but with this one , until I can learn more about this particular car , I would rather pay the guys that have already spent countless hours in the LSj pcm learning just what exactly makes it fly .

Just curious, do we know how the stock injectors are holding up at those high RPMs? I've thought about this for my car, but GM seems to think that raising the limit with the stage 1 kit requires the injectors. Either that or the injectors are just for the pulley and they are selling it with stage 1 anyway.

GM likes to run rich. The injectors help do that and it does set you up for Stage2.

I'm glad you like your tune. Rob definetely knows how to tune! The only problem he has is returning people's calls.

The stock injectors are fine with a stock pulley . The tune for the fuel map Rob did was is a nutshell a GM stg 2 tune with the injectors remapped for the stockers , the biggest gains were with timing . Even somewhat stock , these car seem to love more timing

Cool DJ , it was a fun night ....nice to meet ya too .....lookin forward to seeing the vids .
