my vote is yes but with a careful no, try and search for my thread, im currently running a 2.9 and injen with no problems, did the boost bypass and over 50xxx later no major problems, i dont punch it all the time because id lean out probly but it is possible and has greatly increased my performance over the stock trim, hope that helps

just a little warning. my car was throwing a lean condition code with just intake and cat-back exhaust and i needed a PCM update from GM. i recommend that you get all the PCM updates that GM has for our cars. Search here on the forum, i know there was a list of them somewhere.

A 3 inch pulley intake and catback on my car made me run 13.7 at redline....i'll post up the a/f ratio sheet

Stock tune, stock injectors

I made peak hp at 5500-5600 rpm .... put down 235 whp and 211 wtq....as you can see, the 3rd pull made me run into the 9's...maybe even 8's don't even know

I would say no, The stage 2 kit comes with a almsot 3.1" pulley and it runs 42.5lb/hr injectors.....i would just buy a catback exhaust and CAI, it will net you more hp anyways on a stock car and you would be running safe, why risk it?

i dono about that man, id say for a 100$ pulley system you can net alot more then just a cai and catback, with no problems

well actually let me redo that sentance, i feel you would get more power to money spent with a smaller pulley,

I wouldn't.... that is all! Get the stage 1 kit, and then get a 2.9 pulley and you'll be good to go... safe!

I wouldn't drop the pulley size with the stock LSJ injectors!

I agree, with the hp/dollar ratio, but i think you are best off just to not risk running the car lean and having your injector duty cycle through the roof? Plus you will need to get a new hub for the pulley anyways, and a pulley removal tool to take off the stock pulley.

right, thats why i threw that 100$ out ther, you can pick up a complete pulley system for under a bill, got mine from intense, new pulley, hew hub, new bolts, and lube, the pulley removal tool was supplied by a flywheel puller ha, THANK YOU HIGH SCHOOL AUTO SHOP!!!

but like the rest said you will be alot safer with the complete stage kit

Dude its safe. Not the safest thing in the world but when all of us down here were trying things out before the cobalt even came out we had guys with 2.8's on stock injectors and stock everything else. I ran a 2.9" with only an intake for a long time with no problems whatsoever and as you can see from my mod list that was a LONG time ago. Theres still vids of me on streetfire.net with those mods doing camera flybys if you wanna check it out. just search my username over on streetfire.

The pulley makes less difference than the injectors and a tune. Pulley is like 12hp, injectors and tune in like 30hp. All crank of course. And after looking at those AFRs......no no no no no

nothing is ever safe. you have to be the judge of what you want it to do and how far you want to push it.

if all you can afford is a $50 pully, you probably should have bought a cheaper car.

be patient and save your money and do your modding properly.

if you cant afford more than a $50 pully right now....you definately cant afford a blown engine.

Im putting a 3 on this week sometime , but with a heavily massaged tune and LT1 maf . At least do the tune , Rob had my stock pulley car flying . 3 is the lowest Id go on stocker injectors .

I think a "good" tune will make u smile more than just throwing a pulley on .
