same old chit!

well now that i dont have warranty on the car anymore i have been driving it for 32k miles with stage 2 and magnaflow mufflers. im at 52k miles now. i would like to make it last as long as possible. im still on stock clutch. i changed plugs in the cobalt today and it ran much better (no surging). i also changed the rotors and pads my first time. it has stoptech slotted rotors with hawks hps pads. man do they perform! what else do ya ll think i should do? as in performance..... what about tuning i have read some about tuning but do not fully comprehend that would a tune give me more horsepower and get better gas mileage? i have always thought of cold air intakes but never really got one because i didnt think they are that beneficial i could be wrong? i would like to see some more oomph from my 40mph rolls without sacraficing durability. i am a father of 3 kids and yes durabilty is a big issue for me. any ideas what i could do?

intake = .

are you still on gm stage 2 tune ? because if you are you can easily get more out of it with an hp tune and still have what you are looking for

cold air intake? u can tell it makes the car perform better? yes im still on gm stage 2 tune. i possibly will start looking into getting a tune. venomss on these boards has been getting his car tuned lately i am sure i can use his tuner but im afraid cuz if u go messing with the computer what if just what if it messes something up???

also just to let ya ll know im deaf why i say that is cuz i have read on here about how some cold air intakes makes the supercharger whine louder. as you can see i dont care about louder whine i want seat of the pants performance!

then the intake is not for you.... just do the air box mod, w/ a drop in filter. for the same price as an intake you can get meth injection and a 2.9 pulley to fit your same hub.

what is air box mod and drop in filter who makes thats and can the local dealer install it? or could i install it? if i get the 2.9 pulley is that gonna hurt durability? i have read somewhere on here that it decreases the life of the supercharger cuz its having to work harder with a smaller pulley. i am interested in meth injection. does that actually give more hp or no?

Well im sorry to tell you that this isnt a one way street and as you mod you care the durability is oing to go down. I would say that if you want to do the "safest" mods look into CAI, header and down pipe. you will definatly see gains from this. An air box mod is pretty much cutting out the already existing box which hopefully you know how to use a knife...... this you can do yourself. A header and downpipe by the sounds of it would need to be done at the dealer cause it doesn;t sound like you too atuosavy. Anyhow if you dont want to sacrifise too much durability stay away from smaller pullies, meth inj, injections, and most definatly tunning

***injectors

for the price of all those mods, you get a lot more sound than power, and for a deff guy that is not very important.
cai- 2-300
header- 250+
dp- 250
that is at least 700 in mods(if you stay on the cheaper side, which we all know is not good) for 10-15whp and you lose tq down low.

If sound doesnt matter to u then consider a header/dp combo, dual pass(h/e not necessary as it doesnt seem u do multiple runs). If u get a tune get the performance parts first so u benefit the most from it.

I also agree that meth+tune = win. If you can't get a tune right away, still use the water injection. It will lower your iat2's down quite a bit keeping the car safe and reliable. THEN when you get it tuned, use methanol and distilled water, to keep a nice high octane going into the car whenever in boost. Windshield wiper fluid works great!

so if i got cai
meth kit
h/e
header/dp combo
then a tune.

how much wheel hp would i be getting out of all this? will i be able to tell the car has gained some power? i will never forget going from stock to stage 2 that was a big difference in the feel.

you should also add a 2.9 or stage 3(2.99) pulley to that list. you can pick up a very nice polished one for about 50 bucks, and will be fine w/ a h/e, meth, and tune.
