SC Belt slipping?

This has happened about 3 times since I have owned it. From a 40 roll in second......pulls good all the way to about 5500 rpms then it studders for a split second then regains power. Feels like the belt is slipping. I know people were having problems with this with stage 2 and up but I am stock. I'm not too worried about it if its just the belt slipping but if it's something else that would worry me. Also I am getting a intense stage 3 installed in about a month would that just make the problem worse or would the new belt that the kit comes with be sufficient? Thanks

does your boost drop during that time? is your belt in good condition?

honestly it happens so quick I couldn't even look if I wanted to and like i said i never expect it because it has only happened like 3 times in about 9 months! and the first 2 times were within a month of the purchase date but it was only about 20 degrees this morning think it was putting out some extra horses

but it feels just like it loses boost for a 10th of a second it isnt the clutch slipping i know that

I think yours does the same thing mine did. Its just a burp in the power band, and mine did that, its not belt slipping its just a glitch in the programming i believe.

ha, mine has done that before too. I'm pretty sure there's nothing to worry about. It really does seem like a burp or something, then it goes back to pulling. It rarely ever happens.

oh and it's very cold weather here, when I was driving on the freeway I looked at my boost guage and it read 12.5-13 psi. The cold weather is awesome! Since I'm pretty much stock!

mine did it stock when it was cold out , it only happened to me twice. I figured it was just pulling too much of that denser cold air in and might have made it pull timing or something . I had mine scanned and they didnt find anything . Mine never did it in the warmer weather so i guess id chalk it up to cold air .

My belt slips too up around 6k. I'm running a 2.9 with the stock belt. I have the stage 2 belt but i just haven't put it on. Either get yourself one of those or get an adjustable tensioner and your problems will be solved.

yup i i get that too, happens every once in a while, the car is moving but not pulling as it should, mostly in first or shifting from first to second and i feel the clutch slip and the car kinda not pull while the gas is applied, if it was the belt it would squeal. Im tuned and torque managment is disabled, i just read somwhere torque mangament comes factory to help save the clutch lol, so thats my lil ordeal, but if it was the belt you would hear it squeal like a pig.

Don't you guys know anything? That's your VTAK kicking in!

Actually mine has done that before too during WOT in second. I think its the programming because all I have is an intake and am running 93. I'll have to try and keep an eye on the KR if/when it does it again.

i think i know wat yer talking about, when i had an intake and the old stage flash my car would also kinda hesitate at WOT.
this may be the case for some, the tune fixed that issue for me but now i think ive opened a new can of worms LOL.

that definitely doesnt sound like belt slippage. sounds like more of a hiccup in the ecu (and yes i have experienced the same thing you are describing).

you would be able to tell if it was slipping..... it wouldnt slip for a split second and then grab again in higher rpms, it would simply slip at higher rpms until you let off.

is there a revision for the stock ecu on 2006 cobalts? i remember hearing about this but i thought it was only 2005's.

nope, 06s also have a new flash for stage 2.
in my case it does not feel like the hiccup i used to get, or a studder or anything of the sort, just kinda dosnt pull as hard for a sec or 2.
and it can be at any rpm, usually the mid to high range and sometimes it follows into the shifting into second, and its not all the time.

hmm interesting.

you arent confusing your "hesitation" for engine movement from a hard 1-2 shift are you?

well.... that obviously wouldnt explain just accelerating at any rpm. strange.

oh, i was talking about a stock ecu reflash for the car though. i know there are for the stage 2. cuz he is having this problem basically stock. that reminds me SSCobalt~SSZ24, get that CEL checked out to see what it is. maybe you are having a problem with some air sensor that is messing with you ecu.

no, im not confusing it cuz i can be creeping in first, then get on the gas a lil harder and it will happen.
