serious problem. help

i had a clogged cat for a big and just before my friend was following me on the parkway and told me as i accelerated, flaming rocks were coming out of my exhaust. as of now, my exhaust is really quiet and making a funny noise. what is the problem, the cat? let me know please!

cat it either plugs solid or in your case fragments and spits it out. quiet cause it fills up the muffler and clogs anyway. replace it. Known problem from way back 04

okay small update. i let the car sit for a little while. i went out played pool, yada yada. when i came home i turned it on and tried to give it a rev. lots of rattling and crackling and almost no exhaust flow at all. im going to gut the cat tomorrow and pray for luck until i get a hew header and down pipe. any one say anything against gutting it for now?

Its going to be louder for sure.

And platinum is in the substrate of the convertor , which is probly, but not surley, stuck in the muffler.

i was joking because flaming rocks were coming out. Take off your muffler and take a look at the inside when you take the cat out. there are probably fragments all up inside.

well once i gut it and drive it a bit, wouldnt the exhaust flow push the fragments out as well?

The warranty on the CAT is like 8 years so you could have the dealer replace it ....here it is :

unless you have e-checks in your area, lose the converter. why replace something when its probably gonna go bad again...

i dont think i have any of those around here. all the morons in hondas and some SRT4's with straight pipes get away with a lot so im not too worried. i just dont want it to be too loud because it would thoroughly annoy the **** out of me.

you could stick a resonator in place of the cat to stifle the raspies... I'm thinkin of doing that if i can find someone with a decent MIG.
