Shift Light

this is going to sound super noob, but i sat down and looked at the owners manual to find out what the little light to the right of my fuel guage is, and its a shift light. i thought thats what the logo represented, but i've never seen it light up. is it deactivated in the SS/SC? or is my balt just being reatarded.

lsjwannabe 04-14-2008 01:54 PM

nope, you have to hit like 7500 rpms for it to flash

Put this on QUIIIIICK!

P.s. the SS/SC does not have it activated

...its a shift light for all the other models...but for the LSJ its the "ooooooh shit, WARNING: danger to teh manifold....your motor is about to push up daisies" light

ls1fbody 04-14-2008 01:57 PM

7500?? wait, theres no way, im stock as far as tune goes, and my rev limiter kicks in at like 6500, i learned to drive stick in my balt, so sadly i've found out the hard way. i've never seen it go on. wouldn't i have to be running stage 3 or a custom tune to hit that RPM?

the light kicks on at 7700 rpms

There's a video of it coming on...But the guy is shifting at like 8000 rpms and it just blinks for a split second...it doesn't even really stay on. HPTuners gives you the ability to change the rpms of when it turns on, but it doesn't work for some reason.

tombomb 04-14-2008 02:25 PM

either way just get a raptor shift light (http://www.raptorperformance.com/) if you want a nice shift light

Why does everybody ask about this? SEARCH. It's your friend, I swear.

Dude if you can dive with out a shiftlight then you might as well buy an automatic. Shift using ur tach.........

First time I saw it. I was scanning on HPT and missed third. The light flashed for a split second, and when I looked at the scan file, it showed that I had reved to 7850 rpm

Area47 04-14-2008 03:44 PM

it's actually an engine overspeed light. mine comes on like clock work at 7700. it doesn't blink, it stays on

my misc lamp is set at 6500

i don't need the shiftlight bro, i was just curious as to why i never saw it kick on. besides, i don't drive with my tach unless im racing, and i want to shift at the ideal RPM's. other than that i think i can speak for a lot of guys by saying i just shift by the sound and feel of the car.
