shiftlight/stage 3 and being canadian

soooo
I got the stage 3 pcm for a very good price and got everything i needed installed at a dealer that my friend works at.

Now, for highoctane mode, i know the routine, and how to engage it... but us canadians dont have a shift light...
so when i do the procedure to engage 100 octane mode no shift light comes on tellin me its working because, ya we dont have one.

sure where its suppose to be, yes its there, i can see the outline, but its not activated for us canadians and we dont have a bulb for it to illuninate.

any advice?, and i appreciate serious answers only.
thanks in advance.

well thats your fault for being a canadian (j/k, im canadian aswell)

what you could try is pull the cluster out and put a bulb in that spot. i bet all the wiring for it is there, its just not active on the stock pcm, hence why they leave the bulb out.

I don't know what you mean by shift light...is there a shift light on the cobalt ss console? I have a redline so I don't know, I just use an interceptor (which won't help you). The best I could tell you is run 100 octane in the regular mode and feel how it runs then do the procedure and see how it runs...then you'll at least know it works.

For some reason I thought the stage 3 pcm used the console message display to tell you which mode it's in (ie 100 octane, nitrous)...guess not.

good call, ill see about possibly adding a bulb, or atleast feeling/seeing a diff in high octane mode.
everything else works as it should, and im pretty sure iM turning high octane mode on and off about a million times lol, i just wasnt notified, hence the shift light...

Mike, if we can get together I can log your timing on a couple of passes, and see if there are any differences, that is probably the best way to tell.

Is there a reason the shift light would be disabled in the car? I saw that my SS/SC has one, and I can even see the outline, but I have never seen it illuminate. Could the bulb be bad, or is it disabled for some reason?

interesting.
theres no doubt in my mind that the mode works fine, its just not illuminating the light.

Let me know what they say, if its a matter of putting in a bulb or a relay of somesort, that shoudlnt be too hard, or even if there was a way to wire it u to an external source would be kinda cool.

anyways, let me know wat u find out man, thnx.

What was wrong with the other tune Mike??? Have you tried your car at the track...Just see what MPH you are running at the end of the 1/4 mile that tells all....

yes we do, its opposite the fog light illuminator on the panel. Ours just isnt set to illuminate from factory until 7550 rpms. Trust me, it works, i run mine to 8000 often.

i needed something i didnt have to worry about all the time and didnt need to tweak every few months.

i also cant afford to be charged everytime i need a tweak, so this is my setup now.
its pretty sweet and runs very strong to my surprise.

Frost, any news?

Why not just change the shift lift enable rpm to something lower.... like how mine is set to 7100 so I can shift before 7300

There is a shift light entry. Only problem is is that it will randomly and rarely actually illuminate

in our manual, its says the shiftlight is only available for the US.
im assuming that its disabled for us, its either a relay of someort or we just dont have the bulb, im still waiting on a concrete answer though.
