Smoke from my dash : (

So im driving my car listening to some tunes when all of a sudden I start smelling burnt plastic, then there is some light smoke coming from my vents!! Then all the sound cuts off. The radio is still on but there is not sound coming from the speakers. Anyone have any idea to whats going on? Oh I drive a 07 SS/SC just in case anyone needs to know. Any help will be greatly appreciated thank you.

It sounds like a wire is shorting out and melting the insulation. 07 is all you had to say, peel away from the keyboard and take it down to your local gm dealer.

If you have the stock headunit, then take it directly to the dealer.

If it's aftermarket, take it to the place that installed it and make em' fix it...

...hmmm...well...in this case...when you get done covering the grave of your late amp you should replace that sombitch with a nice new aftermarket one and a headunit to match!

Try going to a different dealership and explaining the problem. They *might* be able to get GM to cover it on a Goodwill basis, since you're barely out of warranty and the car is less than 2 years old. Worst they can do is say "no". Good luck!

I might try that first before I go spend 7 bills on a head unit.
