The key to prevent breaking axels when doing stuff like that is to load the drivetrain before dumping the clutch

So, does it always snap at the transmission? Or at the hub?

Thanks for the laughs Turbo smart and tyler. can you tell if it broke off in the tranny? If its just the joints, easy fix. How much did super fast overseas shipping cost? Ouch.

If you guys had a Limited slip you would still be able to drive it. I think. Just would have to pull that shaft out of there so it doesnt go tumbling all over the place.

I snapped mine and I got LSD and I couldn't drive it. It wouldn't move under it's own power.

hmm thats good to know, the helical LS probably acts like an open diff in that situation. If it were a viscous type slip it might have grabbed enought to move the car, I would think, depends on how agreesive the clutch packs are. But anyway our cars can only be fitted with helical type so its moot.

I know the Saab 9-3 and 9-5 use the F25 trans but im 90% sure they use the F35/MU3 differential

hot high pressure soapy water and/or steam will clean anything, greasy or oily. I made a 1977 solid front dana 44 axle look shiney as a new nickle, had a lot of hours into it though.
