So I come from driving a neon.....

And my god do I miss the pop/cackle of my old exhaust. Given, it was just a SXT with a 31" glasspack and SRT exhaust, but it sounded MEAN as hell, and everytime I downshifted, it would pop and cackle like crazy.

Now i've been searching for the past 2 weeks, listening to exhausts, but in most clips I listen to, no one really downshifts. It's usually just an idle rev, flyby, or launch.

From a performance standpoint, I'm assuming with the cobalt just about any 2.5" exhaust is going to give the same gains as the next one. So which exhaust out there gives off a nice "POP POP POP" sound? Any of them them? Or am I doomed to be jealous of the damn black SRT I see running around Ypsilanti

i haven't heard a cobalt snap crackle pop yet. if thats what you have your mind set on you might be fabing a srt pipe on there. i personally like the slp loudmouth, very aggressive but smooth

srt4's have a VERY distinctive sound, i know i can tell there's one around before i see it just from the exhaust note. you're not going to get that sound out of a cobalt. mine pops a decent amount when i downshift, but nothing like what you're looking for.

Stock header, Pacesetter exhaust with a cherry bomb reverse mounted in line (basically used as a resonator) and I pop a good amount on downshifts... sounds nice

I get it, happens naturally in the SS/SC from what I can tell. Everyone that I've seen that has work done makes that sound. But yeah, you're not even gonna come close to the "diesel turbo" sound of an SRT-4.

Yea i know i can't match the SRT exactly, just like the SRT can't match a scooby.

I'm more looking for the pop pop crackle pop noise. I'm stearing far far away from pacesetter though. I've heard one to many bad things about them.

i was looking into magnaflow, GMPP, or ark
anyone have any downshifting videos of the GMPP or magnaflow?

downshift in a corsa its pretty close to what a srt 4 does just not as loud and distinctive but it is very loud in itself.... Now add a downpipe and a header it will even get louder

I have the GMPP header and the XTC hi flow down pipe on a sport GMPP catback. Stage 2 so dumps a lot of fuel but even on the stage 3 ecu it pops like crazy during down shifting

I just got the Pacesetter because it was used and CHEAP!

Pacesetter is OKAY IF you find a way to resonate it in a reasonable manner. However, I do plan to eventually replace it with a Vibrant (best for performance and sound imho)

Why would you want it to pop anyway?

It'll just sound broken.
