So.. LSJ owners.. switching to 87 octane?

How many SS/SC owners out there are electing to start running on 87 octane yet because of gas prices? Unfortunately I let my premium membership lapse so I can't make this a poll.

I am still running supreme but I am teetering on the edge of downgrading to midgrade. You?

nope car runs like **** with it. and out of a 50 dollar tank your saving 2 bucks. So i keep premium because 2 dollars isn;t worth it to potentialy damage the car

Go do the math right now. If you drive 12,000 miles a year and premium costs say $4.30/gallon and reg is $4 per gallon just to have nice round numbers. Lets say you average 30mpg in your car. You spend $1720 a year on premium and $1600 a year on regular (not even midgrade). Is $120 a year, or better yet a whopping $10 a month, worth it to you for engine problems?

Talking dont give in!!

dont do it!! i was running short on some cash and decided to run a lil 87 thinking it would be okay and then was the ticking and rattling. so now i have to run octane boosters cos im scared i messed something up. the gas mileage is still better than most cars so i dont have a problem with payin just a little more to fill up a 10 gallon tank

Not me.... I pay $4.12 for 93 octane.... and it will continue to be put in my car! If $2-3.00 a fill up is breaking the bank for you.... then trade the car in and sell it don't damage the motor!

93 for life. I ran a full tank of 87 on accident once (I was half asleep pumping gas and didn't realize I had picked up the 87 nozzle) and the car felt like a prius, had no power and ran like absolute ****.

Yeah, I just paid $4.51 for 94 octane, and only once in over 2 years of owning my SS/SC did I use 87 (I did it by accident) the car ran like ****, never did it again. I did mid grade a couple times but I could still feel the difference between mid grade and premium, so I only use premium...

Plus we have like what 12 gallon tanks? It's not like it's costing us $100 to fill up at least not yet...

Also I don't know about you guys but I fill up my tank when it gets to half, so I pay high $20's low $30's total for premium doesn't make me feel like i'm spending a fortune on gas....

Think about all the gas youve wasted carrying around at least 6 gallons allllll the time.

To save $120 may cause much more in damage. F/I cars run hotter than NA cars and runs risks by trying to run 87. And for only $120 a year...I mean, WoW costs more.

when i bought my SS/SC used they filled it up for me (with 87...GRRRR) and the next day i put my interceptor gauge in. i constantly had random misfire codes (P0300) for 2 weeks until i had went thru that tank of gas and 2 other tanks of premium. not worth it in my opinion.

especially if you are tuned or running anything more than stock, I would HIGHLY recommend not using 87 or 89 octane

Alright good to know. As I said it isn't a necessity for me I was just curious. They are selling the turbo as whatever octane you want the comp adjusts. Ours apparently does not.

stock or tuned....it doesn't matter.

the car has a low octane table, knock learn, and adaptive spark control FOR A REASON.

run 87 in your car, wont hurt a god dam thing.

the stock tune knocks like a bitch any who, the biggest down side to swapping out for the cheep **** is that you'll use more gas per mile and it wont be as much fun.

on my car, and just a few of the cars that i've tuned, where we matched the HO map to the LO map. then it becomes irresponsible to run any thing less then 93.
