Some news from HAHN racecraft!

I emailed HAHN about their header and downpipe for the SS/SC and this is the response I got. I didn't put in the order for either because I'm still trying to decide what my overall goal is for the car. Good luck to those trying to get one!

hELLO,

Yes, as this will fit all stock and upgraded aftermarket exhaust systems. The header is now shipping for $499 and have 2 left on teh shelf. The downpipe /high flow cat is $439 and have in stock ready to ship. Please contact me to order or to discuss at 630-553-6830
Thanks
Brad @ sales

The downpipe is Random Technology's. Dezod sells it for cheaper, same thing. I'm not sure how much Random Tech sells it for direct.

If you are interested, save yourself $100 and order it through Dezod Motorsports. I was lucky enough to get it used for $300 shipped.

Now I have the downpipe, and Hahn's (Thermal R&D) 3" catback. Just waiting on the header.

Those prices are aweful. even if it does make 2-3 more horse power, it's still not worth double the price of some other vendors

i proved it can be a crappy product and gain 10whp with the TOG header.... so if hahn can't make that much we got problems

<edit> i'll be technical and correct myself and say it was 9.9whp on a mustang dyno with a bone stock car and the TOG header only, with comparison runs on the same dyno

I think the numbers will be exaggerated with more boost/intake flow. For instance..you dyno a stock SS/SC with that header...reasonably you might see 12-15whp. Stage 2, maybe 20whp gain..20+psi maybe 25-30whp gain (as compared to boosting that amount with the stock header), re-work the head, maybe see even more than that. Don't see gains as a definitive number that you should expect..only expect a greater possible gain than before.

The better the tune, the closer you are to maxing out your potential/possible torque goals with that setup.

As for the price...there's a rule that Hahn clearly knows about in the auto industry..."you get what you pay for".

Hell...if you could get 25-30whp at 20+ psi you can damn well count me in on that ****, lol...I think a stock SS would be happy getting 12-15whp...

i had one freak run at 14whp gains with the TOG, but there were two runs at 9.9 and 9.7whp gains so we went with 9.9 gains. the crazy thing is how the power is visible form the bottom of the rpm band to the top. here's my dyno sheets from last year:

I bought the full system. At first I hated it, then it started to break in and I'm starting to like it more and more. It has it's days where its beautiful, and its days where its shitty. All my friends love it tho.

Regardless, I'm very happy with the turnout. I am dynoing in spring, but as far as an "ass dyno" you can certainly feel the more power as it pins you in the seat. If anyone is in the IL area and wants to see/hear it in person, hit me up.

why did you hate it at first? can you feel a big difference? did you feel loss of power or torque due o the 3.0 system?

does anyone know if the jbp header is better then this one...i mean hahn has made many quality parts for a while, but the jbp claims 36 whp with just a cai and there header..header looks like a turbo exhaust manifold but looks nice and roundish..????????..what the best header out on the market??

Did they fix header fitment issues? And that is a hell of a lot for a downpipe. Damn.

Well at first that 3" was LOUD! Very loud.. I was told to just let it go for 2k miles and break it in. Now it's broken in, it's very nice sounding at times. If I could just elimnate the annoying rattle I am getting from somewhere, I'd be content.

As for as the power goes, overall there is a big difference in the cars power. Now, getting into it I gained a whole lot of upper speed power it seems, and lower end torque you can feel a bit of "resistance." I'm not a real big car guy so I'm not the best at describing it.

I'm starting to get very happy with the system, and maybe today - I can see if my camera man wants to make some vids (NO PROMISES!)

I assume by header fitment issue you mean the one bolt that wont bolt up and has to be ground down? If thats the one, no - they didn't.

You can see the bolt that had to be ground down.

And then again here, you can see how close that bolt hole is to the pipe.

If you are talking about being so close to that pump and rubbing on the driver side - I'm unsure. It's about a 1/4" away from that pump.
