Sputtering/Missing?

Alright. A member of our club (Gulf Coast Ecotecs) has an 06 SS/SC G85 w/stage 2, k&n typhoon, and magnaflow exhaust. While driving the car normally (shifting under 4k rpm) the car does fine, but when he tries to get on the car ANY over 4k rpm the car starts to sputter/miss quite horribly. It got bad enough to put the car in limp mode going down the highway. The car shut off, wouldn't crank for x amount of time, so on so forth.

He took the car to a local chevy dealership and they couldn't find anything wrong with it, which is bull ****. Something IS wrong with the car. I've drove it, and it happens everytime you take it above 4k.

I'm gonna do an inspection myself this weekend and check everything out. Any ideas where the problem may be? I'm thinking either in the ignition system or fuel system...

Yeah... I've already mentioned I'm GOING TO check that when I can make it over to his house. I'm kinda looking for something that I don't know about that could be the problem. Possibly someone else who had the same problem and how they fixed it? It just seems too easy for it to simply be the spark plugs. I mean don't you think the dealer woulda caught that?

Alright... I'll check that out.

Blazin, the redline dude said to check the MAP sensor on the intake manifold, the one by the fuel rail, and to get new plugs and gap them down to .035... Thanks for everyones help. I'll let ya'll know how it goes tomorrow.

^^ same happened to me. it was the MAF...the connection was broken, so i was running MAFless, which the car can do below 4-5kRPM. then it starts sputtering/missing like u stated

I'm more and more concerned that it's the MAF sensor the more I think about it. I talked to him about it last night. About a month and a half ago he went thru some deep(6 inches tops) water on the highway and it fried his MAF sensor, his upstream o2, and had to change his oil and such. He got the car fixed under warranty which means they shoulda replaced his MAF sensor... I'll have him call the dealership today when I ride over there and see what all they replaced. If it is his MAF they should replace it under their own warranty, correct?

He also said that this particular dealership said he has an exhaust leak, but the car sounds beautiful. I can't hear an exhaust leak anywhere. I'm sure this wouldn't have anything to do with it.
