Stage 2 2.8 vs Charger R/T

I raced a 2006 Charger R/T yesterday, he had a performance exhaust system, on it but other than that not sure of his mods. I have stage 2 2.8" pulley, AEM and ZEX Plugs. We raced from 75mph up to 130mph. On the 3rd honk he initally pulled a 1/2 car on me, but within a matter of a second or to I went by him and by 130 mph i had about 2-3 cars on him. I am pretty sure I surprised the crap out of him becuase he was all smiles when I challenged him on the highway, like who is this ricer, does he really he will take a modded HEMI Charger!

He wasn't a sore loser and gave me a thumbs up and several honks when I turned off my exit!

Just wanted to post for an FYI

re

The R/T's run 14.1-14.2 @ 101mph stock. 340-350hp. ......The SRT 8 Chargers are 425hp and run low 13's @ 107+mph. I raced a modded R/T. I was pretty confident that i would take him, with stage 2 and 2.8 we have faster 1/4 mile trap speeds

Nice run and kill.
I raced a Charger R/T for my very first race when I got my SC Cobalt. He tried to run on me so I had to chase him down. I was starting to pull on him until we both came to our turn.
The funny thing is I was on my way to Best Buy and he just happens to work there so we both pull in the parking lot. He gets out and goes right in the store like he didn't see me, but not before I say, "Man, that Charger is nice, runs pretty good too!"
He says, "Thanks. Wait, was that you behind me?" I said, "Yeah." He said, "What is that your driving, that thing is fast!" All I told him was, "It's a 4 cylinder Cobalt." The look on his face was priceless! Of course this stoped him in his tracks and his reply was, "No way!!"
He looked like the guy that drove the Supra in 2Fast 2Furious!

SRT-8 models from a roll suck really bad. The fun part is when they hit 100 they lose top end from that 4th gear and passing them when there govenor kicks in at about 125-130 is priceless.

Here is some specs on them.

Base price : $35,320 Get a free price quote

Engine : V8, OHV, front engine RWD
Displacement : 6,059 cc
Valve : 16 valves, 2 valves per cylinder
Transmission : 5-spd automanual
Fuel economy : city - 14 mpg
highway - 20 mpg

Suspension : F - Independent double wishbone
R - Independent multilink
Brakes : F - Vented discs
R - Vented discs

Horsepower : 425 hp @ 6200 rpm
Torque : 420 lb-ft @ 4800 rpm
Redline : 6400 rpm

Top speed : 130 mph(electronically limited)
0-60 mph : 5.0 sec.
0-ź mile : 13.5 sec @ 106.3 mph
60-0 braking distance : 120 ft
200 ft skidpad : 0.87 g

Curb Weight : 4160 lbs
Overall length : 200.1 in.
Wheelbase : 120.0 in.
Overall Width : 74.5 in.
Height : 58.2 in.

I've seen a few dip in the 12's but all those I watched at the drag strip could not do it on street tires and required drags. Average dyno shows about 350whp-360whp. 425 is only crank.

I raced a charger and magnum r/t and i kept up pretty well considering i was stock and they hade intake exhaust.....when i ran the charger from a 60 roll i was at his rear quarter panel the entire time. the magnum was from the same roll speed and i had him by about the same as the charger had me so i was quite happy with my stock car that night haha

Re

If I was stock I wound't have been able to take him, the mods were the reason why I won, I think the highest trap speed for a stock cobalt I seen was like 100mph but most are in the 96-98 range. They(stock Charger R/T's) trap the 1/4 at around 99-102mph. His was modded with some sort of Performance exhaust (2 5" Chrome Tips) and a very noticable V8 sound, Ya i think it surprised him. Last week I beat a stock Benz SLK350 from the smae mph up to around the same speed, I had him by about 1 or 2 car lenghs (it was close) I find that my car pulls hard on most cars I have run anywheres from 45mph and up (1st gear is usless cause of traction) and have yet to really lose any race I have tried (except a 2004 Z06, who killed me for a joke)

Wins (most I was Stage 2 with 2.8")

RX8 - Stock
1999 + Prelude - Modded
2003 Mustang GT - Stock
A few Stock Cobalt SS
2006 Benz SLK350
350Z - Modded (Intake and Exhaust)
80's IROC 5L - Easy Kill
2006 Charger R/T - Modded (exhaust, maybe others)
1995 Integra GSR - (modded with Bolt ons)
1991 MR2 Turbo (modded, lots of bolt ons, stock turbo though)
1999 Dokota R/T
2006 Acura TL

Ties

1994 Civic Hatch Turbo (Fully Built D16Z6 with 60 trim T3 running 8psi)...ran like 7 times even just about every time

Losses

2004 Z06...I was destroyed
1993 Civic Hatch Turbo, same as above but this time was running 12.5psi instaed of 8psi
