Stage 2 problems
I bought my SS/SC cobalt with the stage 2 upgrade already on the car. Its been running horriby rich since i bought it and i finally took it to GM to have the ECU reflashed and they tell me it never was reprogrammed to begin with. Its had the upgrade on it for probably 45-50k miles and the computer has been set to stock settings. Would there be any long-term effects for it being this way and how much power have i been losing?.. And if anyone can tell me where i can get a code to have it reflashed that would be great
No, there shouldnt be any long term effects...
The code comes with the GM stage kit... So who ever put it on, has the code.
You cannot use someone elses code, as they only work once (1 vin # per code)
You can, how ever, pay someone $100 to unlock your cars ecu with hptuners and have them flash on the stage 2 tune....

hmmm... yea the closest hptuners around me is like 4 hrs away which i suppose isnt that bad to get my car running right but still... im hoping to have money saved up before next spring to buy a hahn turbo kit and have that put on and not even worry about getting it reflashed myself.. i thought maybe if it was painless why not go ahead and do it but im finding out im pretty much screwed... would u have a ballpark figure on how much power im losing with it dumping too much fuel in?.. thanks for the info i appreciate it!!
i live in a cowtown called newark valley, its located around binghamton... ive been to newburg its a little over 2 hrs away from me so that might actually work... ive been on and off the phone with GM to see if i can complain my way into a code but i know i wont be getting anywhere with them...and yea stupid me i have mashed it down a lot living near vestal theres a lot of tuners/muscle cars that race up and down the parkway so its hard not to want to race but of course with it running badly im not really beating cars like i think i should(but at least i can blame it on the car and not me for now!).. but my check engine light has been coming on and off a lot lately the code says its running rich in bank 1 which i couldve already guessed that.. im sure the oxygen sensor is starting to get buildup on it with so much fuel going thru... as for gas milage driving it normal i might get 280 on a tank and thats only if i drive a lot of highway miles...
deff get ahold of elecblue06 on here for a trifecta tune. like i said hptuners around me was 450 to 500 for a tune so half price isnt bad and the trifecta tune does just as good and has the same capabilty
4-5 hundred for a hptuner???? Craziness... You can buy the program for that much....
I paid 100 bucks for credits and teh guy tuned me for like 15 bucks...
The first guy who tuned me i only paid a total of 250...
