well from the fact it is a 2.7...we know it isn't GM STAGE 3.

While we are on this topic, how is your S3 holding up? Have any track times on it yet?

Easy, he needed to learn how to drive, and probably had no idea what heat soak or knock is.

You can blow your car in 3 hard back to back pulls the first day you install those kits. It sucks for your friend, but it is probably 90% his fault.

user error.

a 2.7 on 42's is not a good idea with our fuel systems.

Exactly.

What did his wideband say as far as a/f?
What was he using to monitor IAT2s and knock? If there was something off and he was properly monitoring what the car was doing, he would have known what it was and/or could have prevented it.

Yeah, I thought it'd been pretty well established around here that anything smaller than about a 3" pulley + 42#ers = engine death

I'm not saying right or wrong..but I am running nitrous with my 42's (2000 miles now, 5 bottles later, just fine) and my brother has a CA 2.79 on his GM stage 2 with about 6 thousand miles on it and his car is running AOK.

Uh, What everyone else said...

2.7 Pulley+ 42's = DANGER, switch to a 2.9
Back to back racing = DANGER, Allow for cool down time
Anything but a custom tune = DANGER, It really is worth the extra $
Trying to have sex with your Wife's sister = DANGER!!!!

Sometime just the fact that the car is currently doing ok doesn't mean that it's within safe limits ...

no matter what a 2.7 with 42's its only a matter of time before your injectors go static....or you blow a piston or 4 with the n02

I agree...excpet that I have a warranty so I could care less.

and I think that 6K miles...is not "currently"...pretty sure that after 6K and it is still running GREAT! that it should be ok.

?? not arguing...just saying.

egt is more important than a/f at a point.

im runnin a 2.8 on 42's, and have lower IDC's then people runnin 3.0. it's all in how you go about doing it

Just because FNFAST's motor hasn't blown yet doesn't mean yours won't.

Take the neccesary precautions. Here is the thing. If you introduce more air you have to introduce more fuel. If you are introducing more of those items you are also introducing more heat. For every 10* cooler your engine will increase HP efficiency by 1%. For every pound of boost your engine increases HP 7% and I beleive 5 degree's of heat. You cannot have one without the other it is that simple.

More Air into engine needs more fuel , and a way to cool the air that was introduced. Also to me having a 2.7 without an aftermarket exhaust is crazy that is a lot back pressure you are building. PSI = pressure

So when any of you want to get a smaller pulley other than something modest like mine.

Say 2.9 now you need higher flow injectors, another heat exchanger wouldn't hurt, and an exhaust.

Otherwise you will eventually run into trouble.

I repeated myself in 4 different ways but you kids just don't get it.

Judging by the fact that you think you have too many "modes" done to your car, I'm going to go out on a limb and agree with everyone else who thinks it's user error.
