Is stage one worth getting

I want a stage one kit but I hear about all this lean and rich, and pulley sizes and engines going boom......If I go to GM and they install a stage one kit, will I have anything to worry about or have to mod.

Any info would help

I found a kit for 239.99 Is that a good price and should I get that kit.........

Quoted for truth!

its too bad you are on the other side of the state or i would tell you to say the hell with stage kits and buy new injectors and a pulley yourself and have one of the people in my car club tune it for you. as it is stage one is not worth it, just go for stage 2

I doubt you would notice much besides the raised rev limiter.

stage 2 runs really rich, but its not an issue really, after all if you get a gm kit and have it installed by a dealer and there is a problem then its THEIR problem. now if you go custom then thats another story.

yup, the only plus to GM stage 2 is the warranty remains intact, i would say go for the GM stage 2 until your warranty is up... or if your brave like alot of us then go make your own stage kit!

Stage 2 with Stage 3 pulley FTMFW! Its a safe setup, warranted, and leans back the tune a lil bit. I have ran it for over 10k miles with no problems what so ever.

how does it lean up the tune unless the injectors are going over 100%?

Stage 2 is tuned to be rich, the smaller pulley puts more air in the motor, thus leaning it up a lil bit.

stage 2 is rich and GM made it that way to be very conservative. The smaller pulley puts more air into the motor, but the fuel injectors put more fuel into the motor to match the tunes A/F ratio. The only way you get more lean is if you are going over the 100% of the injectors capabilities.

Yup. Since the stage 1 and stage 2 tunes are the same, this is a great way to get the same gains for much less $$.

go with 2fast's advice.. save your moeny and go better than gm stage2.. ive siad this a million times gm is still a business out there to make money.. they know people will buy what they sell no matter what the price it at. your engine will not blow up man the lsj is a solid unit. a 2.8 pulley will max your 'stage 2' 42# injectors. im running with a 2.9 and the gm injectors i bought off here for only a hundred bucks shipped to my house. a good driver will only get you a low 14 with that anyway.. believe me i was in the same boat as you, only wanted a little safe mod to do.. but everything is safe as long as you take care of what your doing. stage2 isnt that great at all, yea it makes it faster but youll even see a whole complete new car with a 60injectors 2.6/2.7 pulley with some cooling mods. an exhasut on that will yield 300+ at the crank man no joke.. 60s and modular pulley system will cost less than "gm's stage 2 kit" they got you by your own ***** with gm.

any advice man ive been reading up on the lsj for a year now i can give you my best advice for your goals.. not just what im running with, its the best for me but may not be for you

and with a good tune you dont have to worry about being too rich or lean.. jkust watch your pulley size so you dont max out your injectors

IMO, that price is a pretty good deal for 4 GM OEM injectors.

so, get it, and add your own pully.
