Study Time Slip / Results...
If anyone has read my post Born for Glory, the Cobalt SS/SC you have seen I ran my best time at Maple Grove Raceway. The time is again approching and I would like to beat my 14.2 stock time. However this time around I would like to have at least one mod. What would be the point in adding more power if I can not lay down a good 60" time. I noticed with every tenth of a second gained in the 60" I would gain 2 tenths in the 1/4th. To me it would make sense to upgrage suspension and figire out the best way to make a good 60" time. With this said I'm looking at the Ingalls' torq damper and transmission mounts. I would like to hear from everyone who has installed these and if there would be something else you would recomend. All input would be highly helpful. If you could also maybe mention some type of proof other then the car feels better. Anyone add a ingalls and better mounts and see better 60" on their time slips? It would also be very helpful if you could add links and information on the best prices and bang for your buck. The sooner I can research this the sooner I can order my first mod, tomarrow is monday, monday I would like to make my order. Thanks for your time guys and girls.
are u stock , and the tranny mounts are awesome, but id dish otu for CAB's and lowering, and fornt motor moutn , the torque dampners work great but not fully, i believe in spend the extra and youll get mroe for it
Yes, I am stock. Check my sig. My car has 4k miles and is exactly the way it came from factory. 2006 Chevy Cobalt SS/SC. Any of you guys see better 60" with those mods? If so how much, and is it a bad idea to have the torq damper and mounts? Anyone else have these mods?
i have the mods i jsut dont like the torque brace anymore, i switched to CAB;s and lowering springs and it did more, than my torque brace did, for me, my 60 foots were about .2 better on average
Wow, .2 better works for me. That means if I do the same set up as you on stock power I may even get .3 better 60" since you have more power then I. That = about 3-4 tenths in the 1/4th. !!!! That means 13.8-13.9 1/4th with just those few mods on stock power! Why did you not like the ingalls?
what i didnt like was the cheapness of it, it worked great, but wa snot my style, it didnt suti the engine bay at all, and once i had my CAB's and lowering i dindt need it,
i took it off and it literally was exactly the same, i still had wheel hop and didnt gain any 60 foot times

It is deff. possible to break into the real high 13s with a Cobalt SS/SC. Its all about the 60 foot. With perfect conditions it is possible. Look at the best 1/4th stock times. Someone has me beat with a 14.1 something. Perfect launch, perfect shifting and power shifting could = a 13.9 or something breaking...
So you did not noctice any differances with the ingalls. If this is the case I will not buy it. I rather but $150 into something else then. You had wheel hop with and with out it?

I ran a 2.212 with a passenger...not too shabby if you ask me. Just so you get an idea of HOW SLOW the track was that night...i still ran a 15.118...
edit: i dont have the ingalls or anything...bone stock

i ahd wheel hop with when enwly sinatlled, wihtout when stock, now i have none, and i just rmeoevd it, but im also running a lowered car, CAB;s and custom traction bars, and all motor mounts
When I got my ingalls intalled I already had and exhaust and intake. It took away at a minimum 65% of my wheel hop at 1 setting tighter than factory setting. I recommend it b/c you can adjust it for the days you don't want the ride to be too harsh. However, I also recommend the tranny mounts and control arm bushings. With all of these mods put in, I couldn't make the car wheel hop if my life depended on it! However, I must say the car vibrates quite a bit.
well if you change your suspension... you wont be stock anymore lol you could get different mounts and lower it an inch or two and get 13.9X probably but then you wont have a stock car.
I to am about to start upgrading my suspension. The only Performance mod(if you want to call it that) is a injen CAI. I am going to start with the full upper engine mount then the tranny mounts and all other bushings I can find for it. I can't really lower it because I travel way to much and I never know the conditions that I will be in. One question that I have is, will the stock axles hold up to drag radials or slicks on a close to stock car?

Good luck to you, I know the SS/SC is capable of a 14 flat or even a 13.99 bone stock, if I had been a smaller/lighter person and power-shifted a little harder who knows what would have happened lol.

I knew the car had enough power to run 13's it was just getting the wheel hop out of the way. That's when I dumped my money into eliminating wheel hop (JBP CAB's, poly engine mount) and it paid off big time. I was cutting 2.0-2.1 60fts on stock wheels/tires no problem and actually got a 1.9 60ft at HMP (the 1/8th mile track). I wouldn't waste time with an engine mount and go straight to the tranny mount. I rode in a friend's SS/SC with one and it did wonders despite it causing a lot of vibration.

I hope so! Then again my parts may be here on friday and if they make it hear I'm not going to be stock anymore.
Good luck man, it'll be awesome to see a stocker rock a 13.99!
