Supercharger surface temperature?

I'm wondering what kind of temperature supercharger surfaces get to? Reason I ask is because I'm starting a powder coating business and I need to know what kind of temps the powder needs to withstand.

Thanks for your help.

You should be fine with just normal powder

Go touch your supercharger after a few pulls, It will be pretty warm but i bet you can hold your hand on it for a min.

People use regular paint with no issues after a few years, it dont get that hot, Unless your running a 2.5 with no colling mods

Ya I know mine you can touch, but just for a second after a couple runs. Any numbers like 300-500F or less or what's your best guess?

I would say under 300* even with a pretty small pulley

depends on the difference in price for the powders, and length of time in the oven. if its only a $10 difference between the 100* and the 1000*...get the 1000 and you can use it for pretty much all applications

The blower isn't going to be over 200* I would bet. Nothing high-temp. Hot enough to burn your hand doesn't mean hot, you couldn't hold something that was 140* in your hands.

That was my point, If you can touch it even for a sec then its under 200

i can on my 2.9" On Steve's 2.7" though, not a chance in hell. It has a lot to do with pulley sizing.

what do i get for proving it?

I would guess around 200F max... maybe with a small pulley like a 2.5 overspinning the blower after a couple hard pulls you MAY see 240 or 250. Any higher than that and aftercooler would not be able to keep up and the car would blow up anyways... LOL.

if your blower is reaching 200F there is something seriously wrong with either it or your mods

Does anyone actually have a REAL factual surface temp from a digi surface temp reader?

Pulling your car from the road into the driveway doesn't count, seeing as how you don't have your license and all and that's probably the furthest you've driven the car.

Wow... of course it gets hot. After a couple of 1/4 miles it was super hot.. You sure as well wouldn't be leaving your hand on it for a minute.

So you powercoating paint should be able to cover the MAX temp even though most times it might not be that hot.
