Well, I fell victim to the common Injen fitment problems. I spent quite a bit of time messing around with the fitment (in order to avoid rubbing) of my Injen intake when i first installed it about 7 months ago. Here were the problems I had:
-At first, hood shock bracket was rubbing top bend of intake. (fixed that)

-Recently discovered that hole to wheel well had sliced through the pipe (despite using electrical tape to prevent rubbing)

-Contacted Injen, no response in about a week.... im not crossing my fingers either
So, unhappy with the design and the support from Injen, I said screw it and bought a K&N CAI.

My first thoughts are that the bends on the K&N pipe are much smoother on the supercharger end and it seems like more time was put into the design (as rubber hosing is included in the kit for potential rubbing areas). I'm unsure if the piping is larger, but the opening to the filter is larger than the Injen. A pre-filter/hydro shield is included with the K&N... I found this to be a nice bonus.
I did have some fitment issues with the K&N though and the provided bracket did not even come close to attaching to the stock bolt. I just drilled a hole in the wheel well and mounted it that way. The splash guard was a bitch to get back on and it is being pushed out quite a bit. Def did not have this problem with the Injen. Any other K&N owners have this problem?
Overall, loving the K&N. No noticeable power or sound changes, but I do feel that the product is more refined.

hmmm.. that's what i read. I'm really confused on this one. was there an updated version? cuz my installation instructions said "2005 2.0l Cobalt".
Mine definitely did not fit and I could not find any possible way to make the "Z" bracket work (it was off by a couple inches). That and the wheel well issue were my main gripes with the K&N.

where did you buy it from? maybe it was an old V. i have the same prob with my V2 injen with the side rubbing a hole into the tube. figure il just cut my old injen down and use the stock upper and use the injen for the lower half of the intake
this baffles me, cuz i feel like im the only person that hasnt had the k&n fit right. the pipe can only go in one way...

thats kinda confusing how yours would have fitment issues if no one elses did! maybe something wrong with the one you got? From what i've been told the 2005 K&N fits the 06 & 07 my dealer called K&N to make sure before putting it on!
Looks great, We do have a few of the 2.0L K&N intakes, in stock, for $189.99. Check out www.TurboTechRacing.com after these 3 are gone the price goes back up to $229.99.
K&N does make a great product, only thing is they only make this intake in silver, we wish they would offer polished and/or black.

I am also falling victim to the Injen fitment gremlin.
I might have to go K&N in the future. I have a rubber peice helping the situation but little by little there is a gouge forming in the pipe in the same spot as yours.
Sometimes the rubber peice falls out and it's metal to metal.
If a whole forms there it's not good because it's after the MAF.
So chances are I will end up with a K&N as well.

I too have been waiting on Injen for replacement. It has been over 5 months and I've had just very little reply back from them. I've emailed recently as well and they requested pictures (that I sent), still no reply.
The slice in the pipe that you have is just like what I have.

I am just running the airbox mod but wouldn't a piece of rubber tubing sliced long ways and run around the opening in the fender prevent the rubbing issue on the AEM? Basically making a really big grommet.
update. i have the wrong pipe from K&N... im not sure how but i will be contacting them.

My K&N fit perfectly, no fitment issues what so ever even after almost a year of having it
Although, I'm thinking about getting the Fujita, with the smaller pulley, ported blower and exhaust mods a 3" intake with DEFINATLY yeild gains over a 2.5" intake.

i'll update this thread as soon as i get a response from K&N. I'm guessing this is an extremely rare part mix up
We do have a few 2.0L K&N intakes left at a special price of $189.99 in stock and ready to ship. www.TurboTechRacing.com
I would not bother buying the whole K&N intake, I did the the Airbox mod with a new K&N filter and it worked out great. Just kept the upper tubing stock, the diameter is not enough of a difference to warrant the extra $130 in price.
