Tag Stage 1 runs like crap on my car!!!

My car feels no different then it did stock!! I got a 2.8 and 60lbs! Every time I hit it in first it goes to 5500 and just stays there and pops and crap! Then check engine flashes then goes out. I understand this means " A Dead Misfire " Also if I top out 2nd or 3rd it just falls on its face and hesitates!!! This is unreal!! You pay money for there tune and your car runs horrible!! Anyone dealing with the same problems?

What did you gap the plugs to when you installed them? FYI, the Tag stage 1 kit for some odd reason, comes with non-resistor racing plugs. You need to get rid of those and buy some NGK 1 step colder plugs.

I agree. I read the thread to fast and just saw "Dead Misfire" haha. Every other thing he said points to something else.

Ok you are having the same issues as we are! My problem thread is a few down. Sounds like its the tune. Did you get the non-resistor plugs too?

I got the new plugs in there. NGK BKR7E gapped at .035. It still falls on its face in almost every gear.

YES GET NEW PLUGS. I JUST HAD THIS PROBLEM

Get NGK BKR&E and you will be fine. I re-runned and everything because of it. The plugs they put in are full race plugs. I have been working with them for a while now to get this straightened out. If you have an air/fuel wide band you would see when you floor it your air/fuel dips t0 9.0 or 10.0 and thats the pop and crack. Trust me get the new plugs and you will be fine. I gapped to .035 as well

you need to re-tune, the tune he sends out is way rich. Trust me you need to re-tune. Find someone local also we found out that the COT protection turn ons. The car basically dumps fuel when it thinks the cat is too hot which is right between 2nd and 3rd. this makes it fall flat on its face. these are the same issues I had. Find some one with HP tuners, turn off the COT and then just tweak a little bit and you will be perfect. PM MASE and he can help too

ok, im not bashing anyone here or any of the vendors, but if you order a "stage" kit with pre-programed pcm, there should be absolutely no reason why you should immediately have to seek a local tuner to remedy a problem with the mail order tune. You should resolved all conflicts with TAG and see where that gets you first. If you were to just find a local tuner to tune your car, there would be no point in even buying the stage kit pcm in the first place.

I happen to agree. However, I'm not saying it should be perfect, just reliable. The high RPM misfire is probably a result of fouled plugs from the low RPM and idle rich conditions. That is the question... Why so rich down low?

FYI, current plugs on our car are already toast. These were new as of Friday, and now less than 100 miles.

I had the same problem. Car ran exactly like urs did and its not the plugs!!!! I got a new tune on saturday at the sonic meet and its all cured. TAG tunes= big f'n waste of money and they will do nothing for you!!! Ive been having problems with them now for 5 months now. Thanks RON9919 ur tune is crazy..

And btw, The car didnt just fall flat on its face in 2nd and 3rd, it fell flat as soon as u hit the gas. And i also enjoyed the huge misfires between the 1-2 shift when it was cold. Car was bogging and felt like it was gonna blow up

Yeah it's probably the tune. But, no one really needs to run the race plugs either; it's not the cause but it's better he got the NGK step colders

picky ass people who rely on someone else to tune their car. listen up, i have been through this crap for years. you want perfect idle, perfect transition, perfect a/f, timing, no knock, massive power.

guess what. NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. hell i have dicked with my car for a week to get the timing right, and other various little things. it will never be 100% perfect. hell stock they aren't perfect. so unless you're willing to shell out the money for your own tuning software. stop complaining. we, the tuners, are trying.

in short, work with the people doing your tunes for you. 99% of the time, they will do their best to make it work for you. name calling, and flat out bullshit is NOT the way to get something done right. you just **** off the people who you will have questions for later.

Dude. no difference since the cat. and to Area47, I feel what you are saying I work on cars for a living and I know they arent perfect but when you add mods to your car and it actually makes your car slower you cant help but complain especially when you taken back 3 times and it still does the same thing. I cant even floor it to merge into traffic because it falls on its face! And Ron9919, I appreciate all your help man I hope we can this thing running good again bro.
